1 Bureau of Standards Jamaica Quarterly Training Schedule July - September 2015 () The mission of the BSJ Training unit is to promote a culture of quality within the Jamaican society, by providing high and efficient quality training in various systems, which will impact continual improvement for our external and internal customers. Proposed date 10 July Course Description Good Manufacturing Practices Participants will be exposed to information on food safety requirements. LEVEL INTRODUCTORY Who should attend? Executives & HACCP Coordinator Sanitation specialists Locatio n - 1 day Cost per person $10, July Page 1 of 9 Certified Lead Auditor for ISO Food Safety System This five-day intensive course enables participants to develop the necessary expertise to audit a Food Safety System (FSMS) and to manage a team of auditors by applying widely recognized audit principles, procedures and Line staff Internal auditors and Expert advisors in food safety Auditors wanting to perform and lead Food Safety System (FSMS) certification audits - 5 days $100, 000

Participants will be exposed to information on how: To acquire the expertise to perform an ISO internal audit following ISO guidelines To acquire the expertise to perform an ISO certification audit following ISO guidelines and ISO specifications To acquire the necessary expertise to manage a FSMS audit team To understand the operation of a complying ISO Food Safety System To understand the relationship between a Food Safety System, including controls and compliance with the requirements of different s stakeholders To improve the ability to analyze the internal and external environment of an, risk assessment and audit decision-making in the context of a FSMS LEVEL ADVANCED Project managers or consultants wanting to master the Food Safety System audit process Persons responsible for the Food safety conformity in an Members of a food safety team Page 2 of 9 Prerequisite: HACCP General Awareness or working knowledge in food safety management
3 21 22 July 27 July Level 1 Project This course will looks at the different projects and knowledge areas within the project management discipline. Developing a project scope statement and high level WBS. Identifying risks and determining project quality. Working with selected tools and templates to create a work breakdown structure WBS LEVEL INTERMEDIATE ISO 9001:2015 Transition - Quality Systems This course enables participants to acquire the necessary knowledge to support an in their process of transitioning to ISO 9001:2015. Participants will learn about the different components of the standard such as; Anyone who has an interest in project management, Persons working on projects as team members Persons who have the responsibility for managing or reporting on projects. Senior management Persons responsible for the QMS transition and meeting new requirements in their Persons considering implementing a new quality management system (2 days) $25,000 $15,000 How to plan and implement the transition to the new version of the standard. Participants will learn about the different components of the standard such as; How to plan and implement the transition to the new version of the standard. 5 17 18 August Calibration for Food Service Industry This two day seminar is for individuals to understand the requirements for calibration certificates that conform to ISO/IEC general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. Personnel from the process foods industry Personnel from industries utilizing measurements to monitor process and product quality ( 2 days) $20, August Understand the requirements of applicable regulations and standards and their implications for measurement calibration. Become familiar with terminology in measurements and calibration and their relation to process management. LEVEL INTERMEDIATE HACCP General Awareness (inclusive of Food Safety Modernization Act ( US FSMA) To provide the participants with an understanding of: HACCP Prerequisite Programmes How to develop a HACCP Plan The tools required for implementation and maintenance of HACCP Systems Personnel in charge of handling the control of measuring, inspection and test equipment Quality Managers, Quality control personnel Engineers and technician Executives and HACCP coordinators Sanitation specialists - 3 days $30, 000 LEVEL ADVANCE Prerequisite: Participants should have knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). 6 24-28 August Certified OHSAS 18001:2007 Lead Auditor This five-day intensive course enables participants to develop the necessary expertise to audit an Occupational Health and Safety System (OHSMS) and to manage a team of auditors by applying widely recognized audit principles, procedures and techniques. Participants will be exposed to information on how: To acquire the expertise to perform an OHSAS internal audit following ISO guidelines To acquire the expertise to perform an OHSAS certification audit following ISO guidelines and the specifications of ISO To acquire the expertise necessary to manage an OHSMS audit team To understand the operation of an OHSAS conformant OHSMS To understand the relationship between an OHSMS, including hazard assessment & management, controls and compliance with the requirements of different stakeholders of the Internal auditors and expert advisors in Health & Safety Auditors wanting to perform and lead Occupational Health and Safety System (OHSMS) certification audits Project managers or consultants wanting to master the OHSMS audit process Persons responsible for the Occupational Health and Safety or conformity in an Experts wanting to prepare for an Occupational Health and Safety audit function - 5 days $100,000 LEVEL ADVANCED Page 6 of 9
7 Pre-requisite: OHSAS Foundation Certification or basic knowledge of OHSAS is recommended Root Cause Analysis: Documenting and Closing out Non-conformances Executives and 31 August 1 September Participants will be equipped with the knowledge and understanding to: define and identify nonconformances identify the root causes of non- conformances conduct an analysis which reviews the impact of the cause on customers satisfaction develop methods to mitigate the cause from re-occurring Quality Managers Representatives Quality professionals Internal and External Auditors -2 days $20, 000 LEVEL INTERMIDATE September Prerequisite: Participants should have a basic knowledge of ISO 9001: 2008 standard HACCP Internal Auditing This two days workshop will provide the participants with an understanding of HACCP system and the general auditing requirements and process.
