3 P. INSTITUTION Universitat de les Valls, Andorra s first private university, will open the School of Dental Medicine in September 202. Its mission is very simple: to offer excellence in an ideal setting, with an international teaching staff, state-ofthe-art educational techniques, and a maximum of 0 students taking the course in each year. The Maria Teresa Ricart Foundation, owner of the Universitat de les Valls, is seeking to develop an environment enabling the training of students as individuals. To implement the Foundation s philosophy, Universitat de les Valls will open only small-scale education centres with small groups of students. This will encourage close relationships among the students, the teachers and the administration. It also wishes to enhance student welfare, while classrooms will be equipped with cutting-edge educational material.

4 P. 4 MASTER S DEGREE IN DENTISTRY The main objective of the Master s in Dentistry is to provide dentistry professionals with an advanced knowledge of dentistry and thus ensure preventive healthcare and treatment. Successful students will receive highlevel training in basic science, enabling them to rise to the challenges of professional practice. The Master s Degree in Dentistry curriculum at Universitat de les Valls is adapted to the requirements set out in the Governement of 4 March 2009 establishing the Master in Dentistry qualification, and the requirements of the European Region for Higher Education (Lisbon Treaty of April 997). This curriculum had been approved of by Decree, on February st 202, elevating it to an official diploma. This official diploma will be recognized by all the state members of the European Region for Higher Education, Lisboa, academically (as all the official diplomas).

5 P. The main features of the Master in Dentistry qualification are as follows: The curriculum is a -year course, divided into two cycles. The first is teh Bachelor programme of 80 European credits; successful completion of the examination provides access to the Master programme. This second specialisation cycle, totalling 20 European credits, when successfully completed, is rewarded with the degree and provides access to the dentistry profession. The Master in Dentistry qualification is recognition of the professional skills necessary to exercise the dentistry profession. Admission to the course is established by Law 2/2008 of 2 June regulating higher education. The Government-approved curriculum includes: Academic training at approved university centres. Tutored training at approved centres of dentistry, with a minimum of 0 European credits in the first cycle and 4 European credits in the second. Students study full-time following a teaching methodology that prioritises tutored self-study and also the use of creative educational methods that ensure active participation and experience-based learning. The training programme specifies the professional skills to be acquired, the subjects through which these are developed, specific skills and evaluation criteria. Training is European credit-based. 0 hours per credit. The European credit is defined on the basis of the total workload the student must assume in order to successfully complete each subject: in an academic year, the total workload of a fulltime student is 0 European credits. The curriculum includes compulsory credits, 0% to % optional credits, and up to a maximum of 0% free elective credits. The Master s in Dentistry is a longcycle study course. The curriculum comprises 00 ECTS (European Credits Transfer System) over academic years, with 0 ECTS per year. Each ECTS is established as 0 hours, with a maximum of teaching hours, and 4 hours assigned to personal study. Henceforth, the terms credits and ECTS will be used without distinction.

SYLLABUS The Universitat de les Valls dentistry course is divided into two cycles: an initial -year cycle, at the end of which there is a compulsory examination for admission to the second two-year cycle, successful completion of which is rewarded with the Master in Dentistry qualification. The curriculum is organised according to subjects that have been divided into five training blocks. Each block corresponds to an academic year and accounts for a total of 0 credits. The different skills that must be acquired are distributed into these five trainings blocks, each covering diverse basic and cross-disciplinary skills. The distribution over time of the blocks is designed to encourage gradual learning. The curriculum starts with basic scientific and medical training, and continues with medical and scientific specialisation, while teaching the pre-clinical and clinical practices and techniques needed in the dentistry profession. FIRST YEAR SECOND YEAR THIRD YEAR In the first year or Foundations of Medicine I block, the student is given basic scientific and biomedical training. The 0 credits of the first block are divided into 44 compulsory credits, optional credits, free elective credit and 9 credits for compulsory external practice and training. The second year or Foundations of Medicine II and of Dentistry block is devoted to medical/dental training, basic dentistry and biological dentistry, which account for a total of 0 credits, divided into 4 compulsory credits, optional credits, free elective credit and 0 credits for external practice and training. In the third year or Foundations of Pre-clinical Dentistry block, the student acquires advanced medical and specialised medical/dental knowledge, as well as the main techniques in dentistry. At the end of this module, the student takes the final exam for the bachelor degree. It accounts for a total of 0 credits, divided into 42 compulsory credits, optional credits, free elective credit and credits for compulsory external practice and training.

7 P. 7 FOURTH YEAR In the fourth year or Foundations of Clinical Dentistry I block, the student acquires knowledge of specific dentistry, and of dental technique and practice. This module accounts for a class time of 0 ECTS, divided into compulsory credits, optional credits, free elective credit and 22 credits for practice in official centres in accordance with the log-book (carnet de stage). FIFTH YEAR In the fifth year or Foundations of Clinical Dentistry II block, the student studies dental technique and practice in greater depth and starts basic and applied research. This module accounts for 0 ECTS of teaching time, divided into 20 compulsory credits, optional credits, free elective credit and credits for practice in official centres in accordance with the log-book (carnet de stage). Upon completion of the fourth and fifth years, which correspond to the professional Master s course, students take a final examination to determine whether they have acquired the knowledge and the clinical aptitudes to practice as a dentist. They also receive a certificate for the handling of radiological equipment.

12 P. 2 SPACES The school is located in Andorra la Vella in the Edifici Cornella, in Avinguda Meritxell, 8, and an entrance also through C/ Pau Casals. The dentistry campus accommodates the dental school on the same site as a totally independent students residence with a separate entrance. The university does not manage the residence which is a separate business venture. The fact there is a residence in the same building is beneficial to students and enhances their well-being (and that of their families). UNIVERSITY DENTAL CENTER Students will use this 200m2 space for their practices, with separated boxes, xrays space, sterilisation area. LEARNING ROOMS Leraning rooms will have the very last educational technics to facilitate the understanding of the practicals and theoricals courses.
