2 INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AND TRADE LAW LLM KPT / JPS ( N / 380 / 7 / 0012 ) 02 / 17 This programme will equip graduates with an advanced and profound understanding of the impact of international law and institutions like the World Trade Organisation (WTO), as well as the legal rules regulating business activities globally. By completing this programme, graduates should be fully ready and able to meet the challenges faced by current and aspiring middle to senior managers and legal practitioners. WHO SHOULD APPLY? Lawyers in private or in-house practice Business owners looking to better understand the legal workings of international businesses, commercial transactions and trade law Fresh graduates who want to equip themselves with in-depth knowledge and expertise in international business and trade law matters to secure competitive jobs in these fields. To receive the LLM in this area of specialisation, student must complete the following modules. The Master of Laws (LLM - an abbreviation of its Latin name, Legum Magister) is an internationally recognised postgraduate law degree. Law students and other professionals who pursue the LLM will gain expertise in a specialised field of law, such as international business and trade, healthcare and medical, intellectual property, international banking and finance, and cyberlaw. Many law firms prefer job candidates with an LLM degree because it indicates that they have acquired advanced, specialised knowledge, and are qualified and equipped to work in a multinational legal environment. WHAT WILL YOU GAIN FROM LLM? Knowledge and understanding that can be applied to a range of legal contexts and complexities to provide relevant and appropriate legal analysis. The ability to identify and select appropriate printed and electronic legal information sources to facilitate legal analysis. Skills to identify, critically evaluate and analyse legal issues raised by complex and novel problem situations, and apply relevant legal principles to produce logical, appropriate and creative solutions. An LLM degree by itself generally does not qualify graduates to practise law. In most cases, LLM graduates must first obtain an undergraduate degree in law, such as the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and complete the professional Bar examination.

Graduates will have a thorough grasp of legal issues arising from the provision of health care services, impact of new technologies on healthcare and regulation of the health professions. WHO SHOULD APPLY? Lawyers in private or in-house practice Health executives and administrators, doctors, nurses, dentists and other eligible healthcare professionals Senior staff at pharmaceutical, insurance, regulatory or other healthcare-related fields Public health and government officials and staff Fresh graduates who want to equip themselves with in-depth knowledge and expertise in healthcare and medical law matters to secure competitive jobs in these fields. To receive the LLM in this area of specialisation, students must complete the following modules. 6 ADMISSION ENTRY REQUIREMENTS LLM LLB with Honours or equivalent with CGPA 3.00 or 2.75 (subject to interview) or 2.50 with three (3) years of working experience in related field OR Bachelor of Syariah Degree or equivalent with CGPA 3.00 or 2.75 (subject to interview) or 2.50 with three (3) years of working experience in related field OR Bachelor's degree and experience in a related field and pass in the Bridging Course for candidates without a Law background OR Any other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) as approved by MoHE Qualifying conditions to apply (RPL) STPM/Diploma holder or equivalent Aged 30 years and above Acquires relevant work experience in related field and pass the Open University Malaysia placement test ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS Students must include supporting evidence of English proficiency if the first language is not English, or if the undergraduate degree was not taught entirely in the English language. The supporting evidence can be fulfilled in one of the following forms: International English Language Test (IELTS) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Malaysian University English Test (MUET) Taylor s Intensive English Programme Taylor s English Entrance Test (EET) INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS VISA APPLICATION The Malaysian Immigration Department requires 6 8 working weeks to process student visa applications. Taylor s International Office will assist international students in submitting the necessary application for a student visa upon approval of their application for admission into the postgraduate certificate or Master's programme and issuance of Letter of Acceptance.
