3 Profile History first began impacting the lives of students in 1961, when several families from Calvary Baptist Temple caught the vision of Christian education. They faithfully heeded the Lord s direction and ministered to thirteen students that first year. As the academic reputation grew, so did the school, adding classes each year until a complete PK-12 education was being offered to the community of Savannah and the Coastal Empire. For over half a century, has stood for excellence in private, Christian education. We continue that tradition today as we seek to embody the developmental principles of Luke 2:52, encouraging our students to develop intellectually, physically, socially, and spiritually. Between our Early Learning Center and our certified and accredited PK-12 ministries, we serve approximately 850 students daily. Vision Statement We are a community of learners and leaders where teaching and learning are stimulating, interesting, and Christ-centered. Students, staff, and parents are supportive of one another, working cooperatively to reach ever higher academic, social, emotional, and spiritual competencies. Differences are accepted and respected by students, staff, and parents. We follow many pathways to learning while sharing a common core of knowledge, the same set of unifying goals, and a belief in the truths of the Bible. Philosophy of Christian Education True Christian education is cutting edge and involves authentic educational experts sharing their expertise and their lived-out faith. Christian education is teaching and learning based on the authority of the Bible that is conducted by Christian teachers who strive to integrate a biblically-centered, Christian worldview into every class and school activity. A Christian worldview sees the existence of the living God, His necessary authority over mankind, and our need for a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. A Christian education integrates God s truth into every discipline. There is no dichotomy of secular truth and religious truth; all truth is God s truth. For Christian education to be most effective, the student s academic life should reinforce the values and beliefs of his/her home. At Calvary, it is good to be able to truly say that we are one school with one mission and one vision. While there are countless areas where we will continue to improve, how good it is to know that as a school we are taking giant leaps in the right, God-honoring direction.
