1 12th International Conference Living Lakes Linking Cultural Landscape Values to Lake Protection September 2008 Castiglione del Lago and Perugia Speaker : Assessore Massimo Buconi (the local government member in charge of Building Sector of the Provincia di Perugia) DIRECTIVE 2006/32/CE of the EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT and the EU COUNCIL This directive regulates the end-uses of Energy and Energetic Services and in its Art. N 4 it indicates that the member States should achieve an overal indicative national objective of energy saving equal to 9% for the nineth year of application of the directive and this should be achieved through energy services and other measures aiming at improvement of energy efficiency. 9% Saving by 2015

3 Information Campaigns A census campaign has been set off on energy consumption of every school building, divided by school type (e.g. secondary school lyceum - of humanistic profile, secondary school of mathematic-scientific profile, secondary school for agriculture). For each of these consumption ratios have been created as follows: consumption per surface; consumption per volume; consumption per population Rising the awareness of Schoolmasters who exceed the average consumption level for each category Consumption census divided by types of schools TYPE LICEO CLASSICO - classical secondary school LICEO SCIENTIFICO - math.-scientifical secondary sch. 4 Self-generation measures photovoltaic systems Objective of saving: 21% Installations required Plants cost 953kWp. 6,194, Application of financing through a third party which is an innovative method. In that case the beneficiary does not bear the investment costs, and utilizes a part of the financial value saved through the investment made by a third-party, for the reimbursement of such investment and to cover the interest due.
