5 The Güssing Model is the strategy of a decentralized local energy production with the existing renewable resources of a region! The Goal: to get independent from fossil energy in order to strengthen the regional added value! This strategy can be adapted individually wherever resources are available.

6 Milestones in Güssing 1990: Energy efficiency measures and since 1993 beginning with production of heat out of biomass 1996: Foundation of European Center for Renewable Energy Since 2001: Production of electricity (biomass and photovoltaic) Since 2008: Beginning of important research projects (production of synth. Natural gas and production of synth. Liquid fuels). New research institute!
