2 TEACHING EXPERIENCE (CON T) Instructor of Record Aug 2013-Dec 2013; Jan 2015-May 2015 Introduction to Hospitality Management ( 1010) Responsible for the implementation of course curriculum for the class including primary teaching responsibilities, grading, exams, assignments, student discipline, off-campus field trips. Developed an interactive semester group project based on the eight sectors of the tourism industry. Instructor of Record Jan 2014-Dec 2014 Lodging Operations ( 2500) Appointed to implement and augment existing course curriculum for a group of undergraduate hospitality students. As a part of this course, I developed a unique semester long project involving direct interaction with industry and end of semester presentations. Additionally, my responsibilities include developing new power point presentations, class assignments, exams and group discussions. Teaching Assistant Aug present The Bahamian Touristscape Study Abroad Program (HUSC 5940) Co-developed and assisted in the teaching of the inaugural Bahamian Touristscape Study Abroad Program. Initial work included the development of a course curriculum, including assignments before the trip as well as during and after the trip, development of teaching material and coordination with contacts in The Bahamas supporting the program. Course material covered the development and maintenance of mass and alternative tourism in The Islands of The Bahamas. Components of the trip included site visits and tours, job shadowing, panel discussions with important Government figures as well as interactive and experiential learning with top tourism executives in the country. Successful completion of the trip resulted in nomination for the class to be run during its second year. Special Topics Speaker - Volunteer Tourism Aug 2014-May 2015 Global Studies in Human Sciences, Auburn University Global Challenges (GSHS 2000) & Global Studies Lecture Series (GSHS 3000) Attended as a guest lecturer for multiple classes over the course of two semesters to teach students about the complexities of volunteer tourism. Utilizing Problem Based Learning (PBL) as the main teaching strategy, students were challenged to think critically and provide well thought out analysis for each case study. Teaching Assistant Jan 2013-May 2013 Introduction to Hospitality Management ( 1010) Assisted in the introductory course for students interested in pursuing a degree in hospitality and tourism. Responsibilities included guest lecturing, grading, administering class assignments and tests. Teaching Assistant Aug 2012-Dec 2012 Hospitality Marketing ( 3400) Assisted in an advanced undergraduate course where I lectured on topics including understanding competition in hospitality marketing as well as the communications mix in advertising. In addition to lecturing, I was responsible for creating and administering class assignments, evaluating student case studies and grading exams along with other class assignments. 2
