3 SECTION 1: Package Contents The following items are included in your DSL8800GR(S) package. NOTE: Please contact your Dealer if any of the following items below are missing from your package. DSL8800GR(S) Power Adapter Telephone Cable Ethernet Cable DSL Microfilter Easy Start Guide The Easy Start Guide will help you setup your DSL8800GR(S) router and connect to the Internet, however, before proceeding with the installation, please prepare your internet account settings given by your Internet Service Provider. 4 SECTION 2: Setting Up Your Hardware Due to the various devices that can be connected to the router, these devices would be referred to as Ethernet devices. An Ethernet device can either be computers, routers, gaming consoles, hubs, IPTV, set-top boxes etc. For ADSL Subscribers, kindly follow the steps provided below. You may also use the diagram provided as reference: Desktop/PC Power Adapter e DSL8800GR(S) a PSTN Phone WARNING: Please ensure that all involved Ethernet devices are switched OFF first before setting up. a. b. DSL Microfilter NOTE: Ensure that your desktop is already plugged. d b c c. d. e. f. Using an Ethernet cable included in the package, connect your Ethernet device to your DSL8800GR(S) router through both of the devices available Ethernet ports. Connect the DSL Microfilter provided in the package to an available phone jack in your house. Connect your telephone to the PHONE port of the DSL Microfilter. Using the telephone cable included in the package, connect one end to the DSL port of your DSL8800GR(S) and connect its other end to the ADSL port of your DSL Microfilter. Connect the power adapter to your DSL8800GR(S) device and plug the power adapter to the power outlet. Turn ON your Ethernet device. 4 DSL8800GR(S) EASY START GUIDE

5 For Fibre Subscribers, kindly follow the steps provided below. You may also use the diagram provided as reference: a. b. c. d. Using an Ethernet cable included in the package, connect your Ethernet device to your DSL8800GR(S) router through both of the devices available Ethernet ports. Connect another Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port of your ONT, and its other end to the Ethernet port of your DSL8800GR(S) router. Connect the power adapter of your DSL8800GR(S) and plug the power adapter to the power outlet. Turn ON your Ethernet device. Desktop/PC b ONT Power Adapter NOTE: Ensure that your ONT device is already plugged. DSL8800GR(S) a c LED CHECK: Please wait for approximately 5 minutes. The POWER and the BROADBAND LEDs should now be in stable GREEN (not blinking), if not, kindly check if all steps have been done correctly. 6 SECTION 3: Setting Up Your Internet Connection 3.1 ACCESSING THE WEB USER INTERFACE The Web User Interface is used to configure your router s settings. It can easily be accessed through any Web Browser. To access the Web User Interface : a. b. c. Open your web browser. Type-in on the address bar and then press Enter. You will be prompted to enter a username and password for authentication. Type admin as its username and admin as its password then click Log In. You will be redirected to your DSL8800GR(S) Web User Interface s Quick Setup page. 6 DSL8800GR(S) EASY START GUIDE

7 3.2 MODIFYING THE CONNECTION FOR FIRST USE Your router has an auto connection feature that automatically detects active connections on its Ethernet WAN and DSL port. Different presets would be shown on the Selected Profile Preset for each selected Service provider. Before proceeding, it is important to take note of the following: ADSL Subscribers are advised to consult their respective Internet Service Providers for the details of their internet connection access. Take note that it is important to ensure that you have followed the setup on Section 2 for ADSL subscribers. Fibre Subscribers, however, need not to configure their Internet Connection method since these are already pre-configured in ONT devices and are loaded in your router once connected except for TM Unifi subscribers. To modify the Connection for first use: a. b. c. On the Web User Interface, click Quick Internet Setup. The DSL8800GR(S) has an AUTO-DETECT feature that automatically detects if the connection is ADSL or FIBRE. NOTE: You may change the Connection Method, however, It is strongly advised that the Connection method is left to AUTO. If prompted to input a Username and Password, input correctly the Username and Password given to you by your Internet Service provider and press the Connect button. DSL8800GR(S) EASY START GUIDE 7

8 LED CHECK: The POWER, BROADBAND, ETHERNET and INTERNET LEDs should now be GREEN (the ETHERNET LAN LED will be blinking if there is activity on the port). If not, close your web browser, redo Section 3 and ensure that you enter your Username and Password correctly (if applicable). 3.3 DEFAULT NETWORK NAME AND NETWORK KEY Every DSL8800GR(S) device has been programmed with a unique Wireless Network Name (SSID) and a default Network Key (password). These details are displayed on the sticker located underneath your DSL8800GR(S) as seen below. NOTE: There is an SSID assigned for both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz wireless bands, however, only one network key is assigned for both wireless bands. *Label sticker can be found underneath your device. 8 DSL8800GR(S) EASY START GUIDE

9 3.4 CONNECTING TO YOUR NETWORK Kindly refer and follow your respective operating system s instructions: If you are using Windows 7: a a. On the system tray, click the Wireless icon, the Available Wireless Networks window would appear. b. On the Available Wireless Networks window, select your own wireless network and click the Connect button. b The default wireless network name and network key can be seen on the label sticker of your DSL8800GR(S) as shown on 3.3. NOTE: If the wireless network name is not on the list, click the button to refresh the available wireless networks list. c c. You will be prompted to enter a network security key. Key in the correct network key of the wireless network. d d. On the Set Network Location window, double click Home Network, then click the Close button to complete the setup. e e. Once the wireless has succesfully connected, the wireless icon on the system tray would reflect the signal strength of your router. DSL8800GR(S) EASY START GUIDE 9

10 If you are using Windows 8: Move your mouse cursor to the lower right corner of the screen. The Charms Bar will appear. a. Click Settings. a b c b. c. d. d Click the Wi-Fi Icon. From the Network List, select your own wireless network. NOTE: The default SSID can be seen on the device sticker label as indicated on Section 3.3. Click the Connect button. You may tick the Connect Automatically checkbox if you want your device to connect to the network without entering the password again. e e. Input the correct network security key and then click Next. NOTE: The default network security key is found on the device sticker label as indicated on Section 3.3. f f. If you are prompted to turn on sharing, choose Yes, turn on sharing and connect to devices. 10 DSL8800GR(S) EASY START GUIDE

The status Connected would be displayed beside your wireless network name indicating a successful connection. 3.5 CONFIGURING THE 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz WIRELESS The Web User Interface allows you to configure the 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz wireless bands. Kindly read and follow the definitions and instructions below in configuring your wireless bands. NOTE: The 5.0GHz SSID can only be detected if your end device supports 5.0GHz wireless interfaces. a. b. c. d. On the Web User Interface click Quick Setup. On the sub-menu click the Wireless tab. By default, the Wireless features is enabled. If you wish to hide the SSID from active scans, simply tick the Non-Broadcast SSID check box. Input your desired SSID or Wireless Network Name. 12 e. f. g. Select your preferred Network Authentication Encryption. By default this is selected as Mixed WPA2/WPA-PSK. Enter your preferred Network Key. Click the Save/Apply button to save and apply wireless settings. 12 DSL8800GR(S) EASY START GUIDE

14 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q1: What is the default IP address, Username and Password to login to the DSL8800GR(S) Web User Interface? A1: The default IP address is Simply type admin as its username and admin as its password. Q2: How can I reset the DSL8800GR(S) to the factory default? A2: Press and hold the Reset button at the back panel of the DSL8800GR(S) for 10 seconds then release. Q3: How do I upgrade the firmware of my DSL8800GR(S) router? Is it advisable to do so? A3: When logged in to the web-based setup page, click Device Administration> Firmware Upgrade > Choose File. It is strongly recommended to only update your firmware if advised by your ISP or if it has been released and advised by Aztech to be stable. Q4: Is it better to use the 5.0GHz wireless band compared to 2.4GHz? A4: The internet surfing experience is likely to improve on 5.0GHz with probably lesser wireless interference, however the 5.0GHz SSID can only be detected if your end device supports 5.0GHz wireless interface as well. 14 DSL8800GR(S) EASY START GUIDE
