It is important to help build brain injury awareness for 350,000 people that live in Florida with TBI and for the veterans that sustained a TBI in the war. Together we can each build a strong link in the chain of TBI recovery through friendship and support. Survivor's Policy Learn to communicate your needs and to listen effectively Get Involved Participate & Volunteer. Follow through on your commitments. Apopka Vineland Road Other TBI resources: Business At Hand It is very important that we show our numbers at the next meeting because March is National Brain Injury Awareness Month: 1. Patty Sheehan City Commissioner of the City of Orlando will sign a proclamation for March BI Awareness Month at our March meeting. Plus, I picked up a signed proclamation from Richard Crotty the Major of Orange County. 2. The Work Incentive Program offered to TBI survivors has been postponed again. Please contact Tina at x113 at the Center from Independent Living in Winter Park for more details. 3. Who would like to volunteer to work on a speech to be presented to Middle and Highs Schools about the causes and consequences of Brain Injury? 4. Our elections are in April we need to create BI laws that will specify job descriptions for each position and a contract commitment from each person. There should be two names on the checking account at all times and the chairperson should have access. 5. Plus we need to update memberships to the BIAF. June is the BIAF Jamboree Start saving now! Let me know if you require assistance. 6. Ambassador Jerry Scott and myself attended BISG at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Tampa. There were a couple of soldiers back from the war that sustained mild TBI in road side bombs and a gentleman who fell on his head while doing yard work. We all should do our part to make the adjustment for soldiers coming home a smooth one. 7. We now have a map of counties in area and the support groups that are available. Then we can mark the ones we have visited. 8. I have been participating in the Give Back Orlando Brain Injury Support Group and have submitted a proposal to them for us to join forces.
