2 Community Futures Development Corporation of Nadina Teresa Galbraith or Jo-Ann Gilarski Phone: (250) Fax: (250) Address: 3232 Highway 16 (Houston Mall) Social Enterprise - CFDC Nadina is taking part in a Social Enterprise Pilot Project that will increase its capacity to promote, provide coaching and technical support to community-based organizations and groups that may wish to explore the opportunities in Social Enterprise. Community Economic Development - CFDC Nadina has been involved in community and economic development since the beginning, in Part of the reason for this focus is because CFDC Nadina believes that a healthy economy isn't just about jobs. That's why CFDC Nadina has spent time and energy developing projects and programs that have a lasting effect, such as some of the environmental projects. Small Business Assistance - Small Business Assistance is another service that CFDC Nadina offers the Nadina region. There are two main ways that we are able to help small business and entrepreneurs; through our Loans program, and through the Self Employment Benefit Program. CFDC Nadina has been delivering the Self Employment Benefit program since November 1993, when it was called the Self Employment Assistance Option. Over the years, more than 300 businesses have been assisted through the program, resulting in the creation of almost 700 direct jobs. This is a Service Canadia program for clients who are on an active EI claim, have had an established claim within the last three years, or a parental claim within the past five years. Employment Services - Since 1999, CFDC Nadina has provided one-on-one and group employment assistance to the unemployed individuals in the Nadina region. The primary goal of Employment Assistance Services is to assist unemployed individuals in finding and keeping work. Individuals receive employment and career coaching in a safe, secure and respectful environment. CFDC Nadina delivers Employment Assistance Services to all eligible participants, including those who are: Legally entitled to work in Canada Eligible for Employment Benefits Having difficulty finding and/or keeping work Unemployed or underemployed Aboriginal Services - A more recent venture on CFDC Nadina's part has been to reach out to the numerous Aboriginal communities in the Nadina region.
