Appointed by the Governor to the Early Learning Advisory Committee. Academic year 2013-spring Chaired the Butler University College of Business Dean Search Committee. May, Began collaboration with the Indiana Department of Education Longview Foundation project and met with educators from Sweden. Met with them again in August and September and currently are working on an exchange program. March, Co-led, with Dr. Ryan Flessner a student study trip to Reggio Emilia, Italy. March, Successfully held the Rise Above the Mark event in Clowes Hall with special guest, Dr. Diane Ravitch. August, Successfully opened the Indianapolis Public Schools/Butler University Laboratory School (a Reggio inspired magnet preschool-5 th grade school). August Brought to fruition the creation of Reggio inspired magnet, Butler laboratory K-5 school partnership with Indianapolis Public Schools. The school will open in Fall of PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES continued -8-
8 July-December As a founding member of the Indianapolis Reggio Collaborative, secured bringing the international exhibit from Reggio Emilia, Italy to the Indiana State House for a six month stay with numerous professional development experiences centered on it. Italian educators conducted a conference session and over 7000 people from the U.S. and Canada visited the exhibit; hundreds participated in the three major conferences held during the six month stay. Coverage of the significant costs of hosting the exhibit came from private funding and grants and led to Senator Randy Head sponsoring a Summer Study of Reggio Emilia and best early childhood practices in the state of Indiana. June Executive Board member of the DREAM Alive Foundation. September 2006-present. Leader in developing the Butler University partnership with the Shortridge Magnet High School for Law and Public Policy. June Created the Indianapolis Reggio Collaborative partnership with St. Mary s Child Center, the Warren Early Childhood Center, and the Early Learning Centers of Lawrence Township. This collaborative was formally sanctioned by the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance (NAREA) board and is recognized by Reggio Children in Reggio Emilia, Italy. May Appointed to United Way Success by Six Board.
