1 Suth Dakta State Library Suth Dakta State Library (SDSL) Schl Library Integrated Library Systems White Paper April 2014 Visin Effective, well-resurced libraries are critical t the scial and ecnmic develpment f ur cmmunities and t the vitality f ur demcracy. Missin The Suth Dakta State Library prvides leadership fr 21 st century learning, innvatin and excellence in libraries and research services fr state gvernment. Current Schl Library Integrated Library Systems Of the 378 schl libraries in Suth Dakta, 193 (51%) are using an integrated library system frm Fllett Crpratin. The majrity f these libraries, 178 are using Fllett Destiny, while the remaining 15 libraries use Fllett Circ Plus. The ther 185 schl libraries in Suth Dakta are using a variety f integrated library systems, r n integrated library system at all. 39 f these libraries (10%) use frmer Sagebrush prducts including Winnebag and Athena (Sagebrush is nw wned by Fllett). 37 f these libraries (10%) use Bk System Inc. s prducts Atriuum and Cncurse. 14 f these libraries (4%) use COMPanin Crpratin s Alexandria. 10 f these libraries (3%) are full members f the Suth Dakta Library Netwrk, using ExLibris ALEPH system. 45 f these libraries (12%) have n autmatin system. The remaining 40 libraries (10%) use 15 different systems, with n ne system in use in mre than 6 libraries. These systems are: Hrizn, ResurceMate, L4U, LibraryPr, LibraryWrld, Aut Librarian, Aut.Church System, BkCAT, Chancery, ipad App, Kha, Librarian's Edge, Library Sft, RenWeb and Surpass Central The Suth Dakta State Library wishes t facilitate autmatin fr all schl libraries in Suth Dakta. In this day and age, this is an achievable gal fr even the smallest f schl libraries. Library autmatin allws fr students t have pprtunities t engage in 21 st century learning and fr all Suth Dakta students t graduate cllege, career and life ready. Industry Trends Several cmpanies specialize in autmatin prducts fr K-12 schls. Fllett Crpratin is the industry leader in this area. The Fllett Destiny prduct is by far the mst widely used autmatin system as it has been implemented by mre than half f the K-12 schls in the U.S. Fllett Crpratin als wns Winnebag Spectrum, Athena and InfCentre, frmer Sagebrush prducts. COMPanin Crpratin s Alexandria system is the next mst widely used, with Bks Systems Inc. s Atriuum and Cncurse runding ut the tp three.
