2 WHAT IS BEHIND THE CONCEPT OF RSS SOURCING WEBSITES? Since 2004, the VIEDOC company ( provides consulting services to companies, based on its expertise on technological watch, competitive intelligence and innovation. The VIEDOC consulting personnel, only made up of experienced engineers and watch experts, gives an helping hand to companies, research laboratories, innovation clusters and other organisms, whatever their size and their businesses. The VIEDOC Solutions entity, specialized in spreading and promoting informations, was founded in 2009, in order to offer a global answer for entrepreneurs needs, which cannot be fulfilled by a simple market study. Strategy and communication are key elements too. So, thanks to a team of artists and website developers, this new entity offers new perspectives and complementary services to VIEDOC consulting s ones. Thus, in December 2010, this synergy of expertise allows the birth of the first on-line monitoring tool dedicated to cosmetics. Later on, other fields covered by the tool emerged: Packaging, Automobile, Aeronautics, Textile... The RSS Sourcing concept was born: Competitive intelligence tools with very convenient and user-friendly features, that are manageable whether or not you are an information expert. More importantly, the tool is powered by a panel of qualified sources, which are sorted according to a precise segmentation. Lately, the company launched in 2012 VIEDOC, RSS Intelligence ( the collaborative intelligence platform designed for ETI (midsize companies) and Major Groups. Nowadays, all the monitoring tools developed by the company VIEDOC are sold by VIEDOC Sourcing. Thus, with a truly unique range of services, from information gathering to information spreading through information processing and analysis, the VIEDOC company covers all the business cycle of information and offers a tailor-made solution (able to provide an optimal answer to our customers needs for today s context but also for tomorrow s), that should lead to a wide variety of strong and lasting partnerships. THE RSS SOURCING CONCEPT IN A FEW WORDS RSS Sourcing includes a set of monitoring tools for monitoring real-time news for various sectors or professions. Thanks to a gathering of sources of information for each field, these monitoring tools provide a single interface that offers customizable overviews with relevant and 100% useful features. Available in SaaS (Software as a Service) mode 24h/24 7d / 7, from any computer with an internet connection and a modern browser, these tools shared by all the customers provide a solid solution with a lot of flexibility for all kind of companies. Especially for small businesses, SMEs, these shared tools can offer a ready-to-use solutio (already sourced without specific setting or prior training) at an affordable cost. In this way, monitoring several hundreds of sources dealing with your businesses becomes a child play

Stay in touch with the main events (exhibitions, international conferences, symposium,..) related to your businesses
4 First connection: Thematical Competitive Intelligence Solution GET STARTED GUIDE (example with FEEDAUTO monitoring tool): Access to the monitoring tool : Please go the connection page of the monitoring tool you want to try (for example: You can also access it from the home page by clicking on the "Login" at the top on the right side of the screen. Following your registration, you should have received your login information, namely your login (by by default) and your password. This can be changed later from your online user account page. These identifiers are specified in the appropriate fields (left block). You can then confirm by clicking the button "Connect". Forgotten password? In that case, you can generate a new password by using the section name forgotten password on this webpage. Automatically, the new password will be sent to you by . How to proceed? Fill in your address and then validate it. A message will tell you that a new password has been generated and has been sent to your box. Then, you can check your box and use the new password for your next connection. In case the connection problem still remains and in all the other cases, please go to the Questions and Answers section, you can access through the connection button and also through the bottom part of the tool homepage.
5 Note : For safety reasons in order to remain confidential, we do not know your passwords, which are generated and encrypted automatically. ********************************************* Your online user account Once connected, you get to the news webpage by default. However, as described previously, you could still need to change your password, to change your personal data, to get an order form (available in a PDF file), or to add other users during the trial period (if you own the main user account). This page also allows you to change the themes that are displayed in the tool homepage, and thus to customize the tool according to your own interests. To do that, your simply need to click on this icon Once you get the desired webpage, you could hence see the status of your account (at the top of the webpage, you can see if you are during the trial period or during your subscription; at the bottom, you have your personal data) Please note that you can download the order form to print at any time you want. This order form is updated automatically, depending on the number of users associated to the account of the main user in your company (most notably the administrator account) Presentation of your online user account Change your personal data To manage that, you simply need to click on the appropriate tab. You could then access to your hidden zone, where you will find information that you can edit.
6 You can simply change all your personal information in this area, except for your company name, if you are not the administrator of the main account. It is also important to note that to change his address is equivalent to also change the login. Once the changes are made, you have to validate them. You can then click again on the tab to hide the area. Change your password To do that, you simply need to click on the second tab. You will then have access to a first field where you will be asked your former password, and then you choose your new password and confirm it. This option is particularly useful to have immediately a customized password that you can easily remember. Customize your themes The homepage of the service (see the chapter on "News" in this documentation) displays by default the last three news for each theme in the tool. To customize this page and to select thematic priority, you have to go to your personal account page and to click the appropriate button. A dynamic pop-up appears, displaying the main themes of sourcing (here those of automobile). It is possible to roll over the tree diagram and to click on the themes you want to display on your homepage, which will be then tailor-made. You can also choose to return to the default view (all themes) by checking the first empty case.
7 Management of user accounts (for administrators only) The first subscriber, on behalf of the company, is regarded as the Administrator account. It can add at any time users (unlimited during the trial period) that will automatically receive login IDs and be able to try out the service. Once the trial period expired, the administrator can add users (or edit user status) following the subscription chosen by the company, which limits the number of users (1, 10, 25 or 50) The menu below, named "secondary account", shows the created accounts. To add users beyond the planned package, an order update will be automatically generated. ********************************************* Homepage for «News» Once connected, you get to the News homepage by default. This webpage displays the last three news for each of the selected themes (all the themes are displayed by default) Browse in the second-level menu : En colonne de droite, vous retrouvez les fonctionnalités d accès secondaires (actualités, annuaire de flux rss, bookmarks de site web) ainsi que l arborescence des thématiques du domaine. The latest news For each news, please find: The source language of the news, The title (clickable, which open a pop-up window, displaying the news in full length), The source, The date of publication, The icon for news spreading And a short description of the news Focus on a few functionalities available on the homepage dedicated to «News»:
8 To spread information You find an interesting news and you want other people to read it? The icon news spreading is made for that Clicking this icon open a new tab dedicated to news spreading. Your address is automatically filled in before sending, and you will be identified as the author. You can also click on the case to receive a copy of the . A text comment is shown by default with the link leading to the news in full length. You simply need to write the address of the addressees On the the right side is displayed how the received looks like. For more news, go to the archives page By default, the news boxes of each themes displays the last three news. At any time, you can access to the archive by choosing the option More news» or by selecting directly a theme in the tree diagram (right-hand column). The webpage will then display all the news coming from the sources related to this theme by chronological order.
9 Qualified sources (RSS feeds) By cliking on the icon, you will have access to all the qualified RSS feeds for each theme. All the news are coming from RSS feeds * that are related to sources which were carefully chosen by information experts. *A RSS feed («Really Simple Syndication») is a type of data format used for syndication of web content. As for all the news, you will find by default on the page the latest RSS feeds added to the tool, but you can have access to the complete list of qualified sources by clicking on each of the themes (in the column on the right side) For each RSS feed, you can see the last three news emitted by this RSS feed, by clicking on the arrows in order to assess the relevancy of this source towards your owns interests, before exporting it to your platform (see below for more details). Focus on a few functionalities available on the homepage dedicated to «Qualified sources» : To export towards the platform This option allows you to send the selected source to your customized monitoring platform. In fact, the tool allows you to create true dashboards fed in real time from your favorite sources. You can find all your sources into a single interface for consultation. For more information on the platform, go to the section "Monitor" on page 11 of this manual.
10 To add a new source This option, located at the top on the left side of your webpage, allows you to increase easily the number of sources. To do that, you simply need to have a source in a RSS feed format. Generally speaking, the existence of a RSS feed on any website is shown by the icon. When you get the website url of the RSS feed, you can upload it easily in the tool, by clicking on the icon «add a source» : In order to sort rightly the source, you will be asked to link the source to a theme and a language. Note : Each source submitted by the users needs to be validated by a VIEDOC consultant. The VIEDOC people has the right to refuse the validation of a source and to delete afterwards a source already in the tool, without further notice. RSS feeds promoting commercial offers will not be validated, unless there is a special page for these commercials. Bookmarks of Websites This is actually a directory of websites specialized in the field concerned, with or without RSS. As for news or qualified sources, the page displays by default the latest websites listed. But it is of course possible to display all the websites of each theme by clicking on the icon "more sites " or by directly selecting a theme in the tree diagram (right column). 11 To add a website It is possible to add a new website in the topic Bookmarks by clicking on the icon. In this case, a form opens and you will be invited to fill it in: - Key information (website name/title, URL, description) - Theme related (a choice needs to be done within the tree diagram) - Website nature: Personal website (blog), company website, institutional website, press website (press agency, media) - Source language or languages - Services available on the website if any (RSS feed, newsletter ) ********************************************* The monitoring platform and the dashboards The monitoring platform is a powerful functionality, which allow you to take fully advantage of a tailor-made pack of qualified sources. This platform was designed to show you all the news through boxes that you can edit. The characteristics of the monitoring platform are as follow: 1. A real-time watch and a user-friendly interface through dashboards : A dashboard is only made of sources that have been previously exported. Each dashboard hence allows to monitor in real-time all the sources you have been interested to follow (by default, a first dashboard have already been made as of example) 2. Ranking and customized overview : It is possible to make all the tabs you want and all the dashboards you want in order to have a quicker overview. Each box can also be customized (see icon ) depending on your needs (title change, coulor change, change of the number of news displayed ) 3. Useful options : Each box offers the possibility of following news from a single source, but you can merge boxes into one if you want by clicking on the icon. This should save you some time. Moreover, each news can be sent by to your contacts by clicking on the icon.
12 For example, the webpage dedicated to themes is the first tab by default, built during the first connection. This dashboard displays all news sorted by theme (the same as those of the "News" home page of the tool) and offers the ability to manage the "boxes" very freely (deletion / fusion / languages ), which is not the case on the "News" homepage of the tool. Each box can indeed be changed to his liking (color, as the number of events displayed) and several boxes beings are merged together to consolidate such topics. Shown only on the first dashboard, the icon to the initial state (the first time you connect). allows you to make a reset of the webpage and to return Note : The Reset function is an irreversible action, and in fact, you lose all changes made on this dashboard from its original state. For this reason, a confirmation is requested. 13 To make and to change tabs : The making of a new tab is done by clicking on the icon. You can make all the tabs you want (for example, one tab for innovation, one for competitors, one for suppliers ). At any time, you can edit your tabs in order to change their title. To feed your dashboards with sources : As explained in page 9, you can power your dashboard by exporting directly the sources you feel relevant for your businesses. To do so, you simply need to go to the directory of qualified sources (see icon of the News homepage ) and to export each of the selected sources by clicking on the icon. You can then find all the sources in one single interface. To merge sources : To do that, you need to click on the icon. During merging, the news of two boxes are mixed, and they are displayed by chronological order. It is possible to merge all the boxes you want, and then save some time. ********************************************* Alerts This alert function allows you to stay in touch with all the news related to your businesses, by receiving s by a chosen frequency. To do that, you need to set your alerts by writing your search query. You can also be focused on the sources dedicated to a theme, filter by source language, and choose the frequency the alerts will be sent to you (as of publication, once a day, once a week) Note : You can make an unlimited number of alerts. But, you need to pay attention to the fact that too narrow queries may not catch valuable information and too large queries may flood your box In order to define accurately your queries, we advise you to use the search engine and to check whether or not the search results have some interests for you. Anyway, you can delete or modify alerts at any time.
14 Opportunities offered by alerts are numerous: Watch : Monitor at bay all the news related to a given topic (for example an electronic component, a material ) but also the e-reputation of your company, the watch of public offers, etc.. Customized newsletter : By choosing every week and by combining several queries, you can get articles accurately filtered according to your center of interests, and they will go automatically to your box. You can become the editor-in-chief of your company newsletter. Events watch ********************************************* On this page, please inform us of the professional events (exhibitions, international conferences, symposium ) dealing with your businesses. This service is performed by our associated website named VEILLE SALON (
15 Besides being able to browse through these special events, you can Submit an event not listed there, Be informed of the latest watch reports, made by VIEDOC experts, dealing with these events Use the event module of the tool to display these professional events in a column or in a webpage of your company website or your company intranet (simple html code to copy /paste). The search engine This feature allow you to perform searches within all the archives coming from the qualified sources of the tool. For complex search queries, we advise you to use our advanced search function by clicking on this icon. A form to fill in will help you to write your search query. ********************************************* The results of your search query will be displayed by chronological order (from the latest to the oldest news). You can then filter the search results by language and by source, by clicking on the statistical diagrams displayed on the right-hand column. Note : You can save your search query and choose to be alerted by for all these news by clicking on the icon.
