12 Smart Roaming SIM Applet (1) Application in the U/C/SIM: Reorganizes standardized files such as the actual location, preferred and forbidden list files during the roaming authentication phase Triggers special additional processes to maximize the use of one of the preferred networks selected Ensures that the preferred network will always be presented for selection at each visited country

13 Smart Roaming SIM Applet (2) Specific standardized U/C/SIM files play a central role in choosing a preferred network while roaming Can be updated OTA The Smart Roaming applet reorganizes the PLMNs (PRLs in CDMA) and Forbidden lists (FPLMN). The applet adapts to the devices: it triggers the device to reset, in order to attach to the new preferred network on top of the list. Specific user profiles can be downloaded OTA when the user arrives in a new country

14 Additional Roaming Control Roaming List Remote Update Dynamic updates of the PLMN/PRLs These lists can be defined by region and/or user s profile or type of handset used Roaming server with business rules Roaming Distribution: A configured portion of outbound traffic is allocated to each network in the visited country Timing profile: The business rules can be applied within a schedule (weekend vs. working hours, peak hours, etc.) to update the roaming list
