Conducting a risk assessment for exposure to environmental and occupational agents. Building community support networks for bereaved families. Understand how to help families manage the special problems caused by prematurity. How we can succeed in promoting oral health during pregnancy and early childhood. Exercises that parents can use to help their NICU graduates grow and develop. Why a comprehensive, coordinated approach to medical care matters. Plenary and workshop speakers will discuss these and other best practices that help improve pregnancy and birth outcomes. All sessions will include Q&A. Who should attend? Medical practitioners and midwives. Hospital, private practice and public health nurses; lactation counselors and social workers. Community agency staff, public health workers, home visiting staff, and WIC providers. Pregnant women and their families who are concerned about their baby s well-being. Continuing Education Credits This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essentials and Standards of the Medical Society of the State of New York through the sponsorship of Lourdes Hospital. Lourdes Hospital is accredited by the Medical Society of the State of New York to provide continuing medical education for physicians. NYSPA members advocate for optimal perinatal care and parenting by promoting education and research, influencing state priorities, and encouraging a multicultural and multidisciplinary approach to maternal and child health. ASSOCIATION OF REGIONAL PERINATAL PROGRAMS AND NETWORKS (ARPPN) The ARPPN is the statewide association representing the perinatal concerns of the 18 New York State-designated Regional Perinatal Centers (RPC). Each RPC provides critical perinatal services, including high-risk obstetrical and neonatal care, consultation, referral, research, data support, quality assurance oversight, and education-outreach services to affiliate hospitals, as well as to perinatal programs throughout the local community.
