2 LITTLE BIG HORN COLLEGE POSITION DESCRIPTION Job Title: Jobs for the Future Program Director Department: Trades Program Supervisor: Dean of Administration Summary of Position: The Tribal Colleges Breaking Through Grant addresses the basic relationship, roles and responsibilities of the parties as part of the Tribal Colleges Breaking Through (TCBT) project funded by the Walmart Foundation. The parties agree to work together toward furtherance of the goals and strategies of the Tribal Colleges Breaking Through project. The project aims to prepare low-skilled adults for success in community college occupational and technical credential programs, connect students to college-level programs, and support them through credential attainment. Principles duties and Responsibilities: Developing reporting process and establish data template for tracking of student completion of program milestones. Continue recruitment and enrollment in the institution; credential attainment; and employment outcomes, as well as pre- and post-test scores. Assists students in completing all enrollment requirements; applications, financial aid, etc. Be an Advisor in selecting sequential courses leading to certificate credentialing for the workforce or leading to a college degree. Be in contact with students on a weekly basis. Create a data collection and process will be utilized for fall cohort of Breaking Through students, as well as any future cohorts. Provide technical assistance as resources and needs allow, especially with respect to the development of the implementation plan, establishment of cohorts of students. Manage grant implementation through appropriate oversight and fiscal management. Establishes an effective and organized filing system for the program. Creates both new and standard forms needed for program efficiency. Provides detailed reports as outlined in funding and payment schedule. Provide program budget, line items, and expenditures as requested. Maintain confidential student records. Participate in planning events and projects to lead outreach efforts. Makes travel arrangements and submits completed paperwork to the Finance Office for processing. Completes purchase order requisitions for the program. Researches various information via telephone, s, and correspondence as needed.
3 Convene national peer-learning meetings with individuals, organizations, schools, or agencies for outreach, networking, or collaboration purposes. Develop presentation materials and give presentations to large groups. Maintains records for the program. Prepares all outgoing mail, monitors program supply inventory and order office supplies as needed. Drafts correspondence or reports required or needed by various agencies, organizations, local schools, community colleges, universities and with the funding agency. Serves as an outreach representative in providing information to the public. Collaborating outreach efforts with providing student and program performance and reporting with various agencies, local organizations, schools, community colleges, universities, and with funding agency. Attend meetings as needed outside the community as well as with LBHC colleagues. Serves on committees as needed or requested. Performs other duties as assigned or requested. Ability to understand and/or speak the Crow language. Liaise with industry and government departments to develop relationships for job placement Administer programs developed for Breaking Through Cohort Job Qualifications: Knowledge Must be knowledgeable of basic office management and equipment, including standard letter writing, using correct grammar and punctuation. Applicant must have basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Internet Access, etc) and office machines experience, which would include faxes, copiers, and computers. Applicant must be familiar with various trades and technical occupations as they pertain to the energy and construction industry, as well as familiarity with requirements for GED/ABE/ATB Programs. Position also requires knowledge of standards of National Testing score requirements to be eligible for the different programs or resources; PELL, ATB, etc. Skills This position requires excellent oral and written, communication skills, planning, coordinating and have word processing experience, as well as having outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills. The incumbent must have a working knowledge of computer applications (word, excel, power-point, etc), be a self-starter and be able to develop effective working relationships. Abilities This position requires the ability to work with diverse populations, disseminate and discuss information, be multi-task oriented, prioritize work assignments, participate in college related activities, perform at a high level of accuracy, maintain confidentiality, follow written and verbal instructions. This position requires the ability to make oral presentations to large groups; National Conference, etc.
4 Education: The above knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to: (1) Bachelor s degree or Journeyman level experience in a related field required with two or more years of experience in a general to leading outreach efforts within the community and schools, (2) Master s degree in related field preferred. Requirements: Must obtain a valid driver s license which allows individuals to be covered by LBHC insurance. Salary & Selection will be based on years of experience, education, and qualifications.
