Open Until Filled: Basic Function/Overview: Essential Duties/Major Responsibilities: 06/25/2015 No BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Director of Research and Institutional Effectiveness and working closely with the Instruction and Information Technology Offices, provides specialized assistance related to enrollment management, the integration of Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) assessment into instructional improvement, institutional evaluation systems, and College planning and management; creates a common format for planning and reporting and collaborates with the Information Technology department for the purpose of monitoring assessment data; assists the College in the assessment of SLO by assisting with assessment training to faculty, staff, and management. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Provides specialized assistance related to the integration of Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) assessment into instructional improvement, institutional evaluation systems, and College planning and management; presents assessment options to departments, programs, and support units 1/5

2 Collaborates with the Research Office and IT and provides technical direction into the creation of SLO components in the existing College wide system; utilizes the system for monitoring and tracking SLO assessment data; develops and maintains complex computer databases related to student cohort tracking Assists on training in the assessment of SLO to College faculty, managers, and staff; provides training to personnel concerning data collection and accountability policies, procedures, and techniques; organizes and conducts staff in services; assists SLO facilitators and Professional and Organizational Development to produce staff development activities Works collaboratively with instructional divisions and faculty, administrative units, and staff to design and conduct educational research developed to improve teaching and learning in the classroom and support services; disseminates results as appropriate Presents assessment options for assessing institutional outcomes; examines and assures the efficacy of assessment tools; recommends appropriate assessment tools Assists administrators in the coordination, preparation, distribution, collection and scoring of numerous State mandated, organizational and special tests Maintains and troubleshoots assigned databases; resolves system errors and malfunctions; arranges for repairs and refers complex problems and malfunctions to appropriate personnel or outside agency Assists in the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, and files related to research and data collection findings and results; monitors data integrity; produces a documentation index for the Mt. SAC accreditation self study; composes documents concerning information analysis results for distribution to the public; presents data and information to a variety of audiences for policy and decision making Leads in the creation of a common format for planning and reporting outcomes Evaluates the implementation of SLO assessments and their effectiveness Perform related duties as assigned Other Duties: Knowledge Of: KNOWLEDGE OF: Principles and practices of data research, processing and analysis Research principles and methods Student Learning Outcomes assessment Methods and procedures of statistical research and analysis Oral and written communication skills Operation of personal computers with various software applications designed to perform statistical functions, spreadsheet, relational database, word processing and desktop publishing Principles, practices, and techniques of data base structures and computer programming Excellent presentation and training skills Principles, methods, and procedures of operating computers and peripheral equipment Record retrieval and storage systems Basic curriculum and accreditation processes Strong analytical skills Strong problem solving skills 2/5

3 Strong organizational skills Laws and regulations related to mandated State and federal reporting Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy Technical aspects of field of specialty Skills and Abilities: ABILITY TO: Perform specialized support duties in support of organizational student assessment programs and activities Coordinate teams of faculty and provide training to personnel concerning data collection and accountability policies, procedures, and techniques Work independently with little direction Interpret and apply laws, codes, rules, and regulations related to testing programs Operate a variety of office equipment including computer equipment Communicate effectively both orally and in writing Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others Develop and meet schedules and timelines Complete work with many interruptions Minimum Qualifications/ Education & Experience: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: A Bachelor s degree with educational background in statistics, computer science, and educational program delivery including Student Learning Outcomes and two years of increasingly responsible experience involving related research and analysis activities and projects. Equivalencies: Preferred Qualifications: License(s) & Other Working Environment: Physical Demands: Training and presentation experience desirable. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: The incumbent may periodically be required to get to a variety of locations. If operating a vehicle, employees must have the ability to secure and maintain a valid California driver s license. Official offers of employment are made by the Mt.
