1 ELECTRONIC COMMERCE IN TOURISM Astrakhan State University Brief Description Degree Level Objective ECTS Study types Master Specialized The objectives of this course is to familiarize students with concepts, ideas and technology of electronic commerce and to develop the skills of effective strategies implementation for electronic commerce in tourist business. The student must know the technological principles of the functioning of e- commerce systems, various types of business models of e-commerce systems, various forms of payment services in e-commerce, internet-based marketing. Number of users who use the Internet for planning and purchasing travel services increases annually. In 2008, the online travel services market grew by 19% and has reached Euro 58.4 billion. According to the study by Eurostat, in the first quarter of % of EU population aged used the Internet to purchase travel services. Given these trends, a modern tourist manager should be able to effectively use the Internet Reasons for course selection and e-commerce in business. At the Astrakhan State University in the previous Tempus project the course "Electronic " was developed. We expect to modernize the course,

The Future Perspectives for Tourism and Hospitality E- Services Practice Practical exercises will focus on the analysis of real-world examples of business (case studies). Practical sessions will generally coincide with the topics of the lecture course. For each topic there will be one or two case studies demonstrating both successful and unsuccessful implementations of e-commerce services in various fields of tourism and hospitality. The students will also work in small teams on micro-projects and exercises (two three on each topic). They will need to prepare small reports in specific topics using the information they can get from the Internet.
