How to use this Guide This Course Enrolment Guide 2015 provides you with information on when and where the units available for study in this program(s) will be offered in Enrolling in units for Read Section 3. Program Information for information on course structure and unit sequence. Take note of any prerequisite or co-requisite requirements before selecting particular units. A prerequisite is a requirement that must be met by a student before enrolment in a stipulated unit. It is your responsibility to ensure that you meet the prerequisites for a unit prior to enrolling into that unit. A co-requisite is a requirement that must be met by having already passed or being concurrently enrolled in an associated unit in order to be able to enrol in the stipulated unit. If you wish to enrol into a unit for which you have not met the prerequisite or corequisite requirements, please obtain approval from your Course Coordinator. 2. Refer to the unit listings in Section 4. Units Offered in 2015 to select your units. Take note of the study period in which units are offered. 3. You must refer to Administration & Enrolment on the ACU website ( ) for information on how to complete your enrolment via Student Connect. Administration & Enrolment also provides detailed information on managing your studies. 4. Log on to Student Connect and enroll ( Student Connect is a web interface allowing students to complete their ACU enrolment online. IMPORTANT NOTE Failure to enroll or re-enroll before the published due dates for re-enrolment on the ACU website ( ) may result in late fee penalties. Even if you are unsure of what units you need to enroll in, please ensure that you enroll or re-enroll in at least one unit before the due date. Enrolling in at least one unit by the due date will enable you to add further units, or amend your enrolment via Student Connect up until the final dates published in the Critical Dates for Variation of Enrolment on the ACU website ( ). 5 3. Program Information This MBA dual degree course will equip you for senior managerial roles across a broad spectrum of industries in the public and private sectors. The Master of Commerce/Master of Administration majors in Accounting, Information Systems, Human Resource and will assist graduates in achieving senior membership of the Certified Practicing Accountants of Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia, the Institute of Public Accountants, the Australian Institute, the Australian Human Resources Institute, the Australian Computer Society and other peak and industry bodies. As part of the Masters, students undertake workplace, or industry-related research projects. This will extend their learning into practical investigation and analysis of relevance to their future career and professional interests. Upon graduating in Accounting, or Information Systems, graduates will be eligible to apply for full fellowships of the respective peak and industry bodies, subject to satisfying any other professional experience requirements. Graduates will have a sound understanding of corporate governance, business ethics and their chosen specialisation. Moreover, the incorporation into the course of national and international accreditation standards equips graduates to gain employment as a well-rounded, knowledgeable and skilled professional. FOR THE ACCOUNTING MAJOR: The Accounting major has specific admission requirements. The Accounting major is based on and includes the CPA Program at the professional level. It is a condition of entry into the CPA Program, and therefore the Accounting major, that students provide evidence of their enrollment in the CPA Program. This condition applies to all applicants for the Accounting major, domestic as well as international. This will require evidence from the student of confirmation by CPA Australia that a student is eligible to take the CPA Program, and to sit the CPA Program examinations, for which students must pay CPA Australia directly. On payment of CPA Program fees, students will also receive comprehensive study materials directly from CPA Australia. This is a condition of entry into the Accounting major. On successful completion of the Accounting major and the CPA administered examinations, students will satisfy the academic requirements for full CPA membership.. REQUIREMENTS TO COMPLETE AWARD For information on the duration of your course, and the requirements to complete your award, please refer to the Course Rules for your program. 6 Note There are special eligibility requirements for admission into the Accounting Major. These include: 1. Associate Member status with CPA Australia. 2. Students must also undertake to enroll for CPA examinations and pay a separate fee to CPA Australia for that enrolment. 3. Evidence of such enrolment must be provided to the relevant course coordinator before enrolment in the respective units within the major. 4. Students must provide to the Australian Catholic University, hard-copy evidence of their results from the CPA module examinations. Notice for students who wish to exit from a course of study other than that for which they are enrolled (a) if you intend to continue with your current course, you are not permitted to exit with a lower level award, however you may request a letter from your Course Coordinator confirming that you have satisfied the requirements for the relevant lower award; (b) if you do in fact exit with a lower level award and subsequently wish to resume your studies in the higher level course, you will be required to reapply for admission to that course in order to resume your studies. (c) if you intend to continue in a dual degree, you cannot exit with a single level award, but you may request a letter from the Course Coordinator confirming that you have satisfied the requirements for the relevant single award. Electives Electives may be chosen from postgraduate units taught within the School of or from other Faculties of this University providing pre-requisite requirements are met and your course coordinator approves. In such cases students will be notified and given the opportunity to register in an alternative unit. Delivery Modes: Attendance Primarily attendance, either face-to-face or via video conference, at an ACU campus or another location. Multimode Some online with a compulsory attendance component (including examinations, practicums, residentials etc). Online Fully online (including assessments).
