Penta serves the training needs of adults in the entire region through its Adult & Continuing Education Center which offers full-time and part-time programs. In November 2003, Penta passed a one-mill permanent improvement levy to construct, equip and maintain a new facility. The new state-of-the-art facility contains 125 classrooms and labs which were opened to students on September 2, 2008.

4 FULL-TIME u PELL Funding is available to students who qualify u WorkKeys Pre-Entrance Assessment required Automotive Body Repair Date: August 25, 2014 June 10, 2015 Time: 5:30 p.m. 9:30 p.m. Hours: 604 Cost: $4,832 Train for entry level positions in the auto body repair profession and jump start your career as an auto body and collision repair technician. Some of the areas covered include welding for auto body, panel repair, and exterior and interior trim repair. You will prepare to take the ASE Refrigeration and Painting/ Refinishing Certification Test offered in the spring. You will also acquire CPR/First Aid and basic computer fundamentals. All students will receive a Basic Auto Body Repair tool kit, which will become your personal property upon the successful completion of the course. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics: PAY: In May 2012, the median annual wage for automotive body and related repairers was $38,380. The median annual wage for automotive glass installers and repairers was $32,650. JOB OUTLOOK: Employment of automotive body and glass repairers is projected to grow 13% from 2012 to 2022, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Job opportunities should be very good for jobseekers with industry certification and formal training in automotive body repair and refinishing and in collision repair. 4

5 Auto Mechanic Technician Date: August 25, 2014 June 10, 2015 Time: 5:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. Hours: 760 Cost: $6,080 FULL-TIME Do you like working on cars but need a greater knowledge of automotive mechanical principles to turn your interest into a career? This extensive career development course in auto mechanics will provide you with the knowledge for entry into the automotive mechanic/technician profession. Within the time frame of this course, you will prepare for and take the ASE Brakes and HVAC Certification Tests. You will also acquire CPR/ First aid and basic computer fundamentals. All students will receive a Basic Auto Technology Repair tool kit, which will become your personal property upon the successful completion of the course. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics: PAY: The median annual wage for automotive service technicians and mechanics was $36,610 in May JOB OUTLOOK: Employment of automotive service technicians and mechanics is projected to grow 9% from 2012 to 2022, about as fast as the average for all occupations. In this extensive full-time course, you will obtain the knowledge required for entry level positions in the building profession. Some of the areas covered include masonry, rough and finish carpentry, windows, doors, siding, plumbing, heating and insulation, drywall and countertops, trim, blue print reading, floor covering, electrical and decking. Additionally, you will train for and earn your Skid Steer Loader Certification, CPR/First Aid certification and computer fundamentals. All students will receive a Basic Builder, Contractor and Remodeler tool belt, which will become your personal property upon the successful completion of the course. *As part of this course, you may be required to meet at construction locations for hands-on construction field experience. The construction sights are typically within a 20 mile radius of Penta Career Center. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics: PAY: The median annual wage for construction laborers and helpers was $29,160 in May JOB OUTLOOK: Employment of construction laborers and helpers is projected to grow 25% from 2012 to 2022, much faster than the average for all occupations. Laborers and helpers work in all fields of construction, and demand for these workers will mirror the level of overall construction activity.

7 Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic & Repair Date: August 25, 2014 June 10, 2015 Time: Hours: 765 Cost: $6,120 5:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. Jobs for HVAC mechanics is heating up. In this extensive career development course you will obtain the knowledge for entry level positions in the HVAC profession. Some of the areas covered include sheet metal, gas & electric furnaces, high efficiency gas boilers, geothermal applications and more. Additionally you will prepare and take the EPA Core Type 1, 2, 3 Refrigerant Certification Exam and the ASE Refrigeration/Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Exam, and learn CPR/First Aid and basic computer fundamentals. All students will receive Basic HVAC Technician equipment, which includes basic hand tools and a multimeter which will become your personal property upon the successful completion of the course. This program is Toledo Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (THACCA) approved. After the full training is complete, 576 hours may be credited towards an apprenticeship program. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics: PAY: The median annual wage for heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers was $43,640 in May JOB OUTLOOK: Employment of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers is projected to grow 21% from 2012 to 2022, faster than the average for all occupations. Candidates familiar with computers and electronics and those with good troubleshooting skills will have the best job opportunities as employers continue to have difficulty finding qualified technicians to work on complex new systems. Skilled new machinist are needed and here is your chance to get solid based hands-on training to become a machinist and CNC technician. In this extensive career development course you will obtain the knowledge for entry level positions in the machine trades profession. Areas of study include the following: measurement, materials and safety, mathematics, drill press and surface grinding, job planning, bench work and layout, blueprint reading, sketching, lathe operations, vertical mill, CNC, and job seeking skills. You will also receive Heartsaver AED CPR and basic computer fundamentals. All students will receive Basic equipment, which will become your personal property upon the successful completion of the course. Students must have at least 2 years of proven machining experience or education. 9 Welder/ Welder Technologist Date: August 25, 2014 June 10, 2015 Time: 5:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. Hours: 765 Cost: $6,120 If you like working with metal, you might want to consider a career in Fabrication and Welding Technology. Welders work with their hands to make or repair a variety of products used in industry as well as everyday life. If it is made of metal, in most instances, it was built by a welder/ fabricator. Our competency-based Welding and Fabrication program will give you the training you need using safe and correct procedures required in thermo-cutting, SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and applications of pipe welding. You will learn to weld and fabricate using various metals: brass, copper, and cast iron. Successful completion of this course will prepare you for entry into many trade and industry opportunities, including construction, aerospace, automotive, heavy equipment, machinist, ship building and agriculture, to name just a few. All students will receive a Basic Welding tool kit which includes: helmet, goggles, jacket and gloves for use during the course. The Basic Welding kit will be yours to keep upon successful completion of the course. You will also be given a maximum of 10 practice coupons and 4 test coupons throughout the course. All successful students will receive a 3G-4G Combination Certification. To complete and receive the 6G Pipe Welding Certification, all students must have 85% attendance and satisfactory academic standing. Here is your chance to launch a career as a Marine Skills Mechanic. This program is designed to help you master competencies necessary to work in the Marine trades industry in less than six months. A Marine Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative maintenance, troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, electrical and instrumentation of motor systems. This training will also cover techniques of boat handling, safety, skills for water transportation, skills for marine engine repair. The student will also use full size mock-ups for circuit wiring procedures using switches, receptacles and lighting. Low voltage electrical wiring will also be covered. Retirees are expected to exceed the supply of adequately trained new machine programmers and operators. Learn how to program and use the tools needed to work in this growing industry. You must pass the pre-admissions testing standards to be eligible for this training. Student must have at least 2 years of proven machining experience or education. Prerequisite: Vertical Mill Operations I,II, III Precision Measurement involves the handson training in measurement using the various instruments found in manufacturing such as the micrometer, caliper and height gauge. Techniques focus on proper handling and reading of these instruments that are used to determine measurement to specific tolerances during this course. In addition, you will be introduced to SMAW and GMAW processes, and will be taught the science behind basic metal work. PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS The Adult and Continuing Education administration reserves the right to cancel any classes due to insufficient enrollment throughout the duration of the course. PROGRAM TRANSFERS A Pell eligible student who enrolls in another Penta career training program in another school year will begin with a new Pell award. For each additional program, the student will have up to 900 hours funded by Pell to complete the program. GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES An alleged formal discrimination grievance complaint should first be made to the Adult Education Supervisor within ten (10) school days of the date the incident occurred. This complaint is to state the date, time, place, and people involved. WITHDRAWALS & REFUNDS (Full-Time Programs) Students who withdraw from Job Training programs (for any reason) will receive tuition refunds on the following basis: Withdrawal Before start of Course 100% Between Day 1 & Day 3 of Course 90% After Day 3 of Course NO REFUND Full-Time students wishing to withdraw from classes should do so before the end of the first week of class. Please refer to the Withdrawal table. A $30.00 administrative fee is non-refundable. A part-time student will receive a refund only if they cancel or withdraw a week prior to the start of class.
