3 Admissions & Financial Aid Financial Aid Financial Aid may be available to help pay the costs of tuition, books, lab fees and other expenses. Each source of financial aid has its own guidelines regarding eligibility and application procedures. Some of the sources of financial assistance are: PELL Grant, Direct Loans, Veteran G.I. Bill, Ohio Rehabilitation Services and Your Job Store. In order to be eligible for federal funding you must be enrolled in a program with 600 hours or more. Not all courses qualify for financial assistance. Please note all deadlines when applying for aid. This information can be found in your admissions packet or through the links provided. Students will use a variety of study methods and test-taking skills. 4 Business & Computer Diversified Office Specialist 720 hours Prepare for a career in medical, legal or general office! Learn core fundamental topics key to any office environment including keyboarding, computer literacy, calculators, communications, human relations, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and QuickBooks. Students will gain specialized knowledge in Medical Terminology, Medical Billing & Coding, Legal Terminology, and office procedures. Business Office Specialist Program 150 hours This part-time program provides specialized, comprehensive training in Microsoft Word and Excel 2010 along with Accounting and QuickBooks Pro These courses will prepare you for the nationally recognized Microsoft Office Specialist Certification and the new QuickBooks certification exam. Online Courses 60 hours Now you can take courses in the comfort of your home. We offer our students on-line courses through Ed2go. All courses are led by expert instructors. Keyboarding Computers for Beginners MS Word I, II, III MS Excel I, II, III MS PowerPoint I & II Photoshop I & II QuickBooks Pro Web Design Specialist Health Occupations Medical Assisting & Phlebotomy 900 hours Medical Assistant jobs are expected to be one of the ten fastest growing occupations. Clinical duties include recording medical histories, vital signs, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperatures, drawing blood and collecting specimens, medication administration, explaining and preparing patients for exams and assisting the physician during examinations and procedures. Administrative duties include patient reception, appointment scheduling, insurance, billing and coding, updating patient records and facilities management. The student will take the national certification test from American Medical Technologist (AMT) in either Medical Assisting or Phlebotomy at the conclusion of the program. 6 Pharmacy Technician 60 hours This short term course will prepare you to enter the pharmacy field in a hospital, community pharmacy or under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. You will be eligible for national certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) upon successful completion. Coordinator: Karen Roshon kroshon@scs-k12.net School of Practical Nursing Practical Nursing 1210 hours Licensed practical nurses (LPN s) help care for the sick, injured and well people of all ages. Students will work closely with patients in many health care settings. The course of study is daytime and can be either 1 year (44 weeks) of full-time study or 2 years (88 weeks) of part-time study. The program integrates classroom study and clinical hands-on nursing for a total of 1210 hours. Articulation agreements with local colleges are in place if graduates wish to pursue becoming a registered nurse. January start date Director: Lauralee Krabill lkrabill@scs-k12.net Salon & Spa Services Managing Cosmetology 1800 hours Learn all the basics of hair care, skin care, and nail care in 12 months. Upon completion, students are prepared to take the Ohio Board of Cosmetology License Exam. Our lab is complete with a large salon area, facial room and classroom.
