1 Appendix B SURVEY OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS AT LOCAL COMMUNITY COLLEGES A survey of community colleges in Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura counties reports that all these southland community colleges offer physical education programs. All programs include Fitness, Individual Activities, Team Activities, and Intercollegiate Athletics (Coastline College offers intercollegiate athletics through the programs of the other two colleges in the Coastline district). The programs have various names, including Physical Education, Kinesiology Physical Education, Exercise Science, and Athletics. About half of the colleges surveyed include dance in the physical education department and about half include dance in either its own department or in a grouping with other performance arts. 1
