Fastweb was founded in 1999 and is one of the main telecommunications providers in Italy Fastweb has invested in new generation fiber-optic network and has developed the widest fiber-optic network in Europe Fastweb was the first company in the world to launch IPTV services in 2001 Fastweb offers a wide variety of excellent products and services including voice, data/internet and video services

Broadband Market in Italy Italy's most popular broadband connection is ADSL, with Fastweb as the only provider offering fiber-optic cable connection The number of Internet users in Italy was approximately 30 million in Broadband penetration was approximately 52% by the end of the same year 20% of connections is managed by Internet service providers other than the incumbent Telecom Italia There is a HUGE opportunity to sign up customers who do not have an Internet connection yet!

5 Glossary LLU: Local Loop Unbundling is a contract between Italian telecommunications providers and the incumbent Telecom Italia. It allows Telecom Italia to rent the "last mile" of telephone cables, for example, the local connection over the last kilometres from the customer s address. With this kind of contract, the contracting provider is fully responsible for any faults or malfunctions in the ADSL connection. WHS: With Line Rental (WholeSale), the provider purchases and resells Telecom Italia ADSL exactly as it is supplied. Basically, line rentals have the same features of a Telecom Italia connection, including the price, but are offered by a different provider. With WHS, the provider handles customer complaints, however Telecom Italia still sends a technician to solve the problem. Since two parties are involved, resolution time of problems can take longer. Having an ADSL connection through WHS or LLU makes no difference for the customer.
