3 Welcome Letter March 2009 Ladies and Gentlemen: I,as the chairman-on-duty of this seventh session of international symposium of CMLA, am feeling deeply honored to invite everyone of you to enthusiastically appear in this great event to be held in China's international shipping center, Shanghai, ashinning pearl on the west bank of the Pacific Ocean 袁 on November 13-15,this year. As the usual practice, CMLA is organizing and holding the seventh session of international symposium this year, which has been four years since the last session. As far as the world economic situation is concerned, this year marks aquite unusual moment, that the whole world is now severely hit by financial storm, which also blocks the global shipping industry, and as such, our symposium is ready to draw on all our wisdom and unite everyone to go all out to face the unusual challenge, which will be sure to leave a splendid mark with victory on the shipping history. And we firmly believe that the storm is only one out of another, our common pray will surely be blessed by God and the shinning sun for the international shipping industry will inevitably be back in near future, and the whole world still keeps developing in atrend of great harmony. With such expectation for the bright future, the seventh session of international symposium of CMLA will be held as it plans and our Agenda and Topics Committee has distributed alist of much more topics than ever before. 1

4 The International Conference on Maritime Law is a grand meeting within the law society of international shipping. Everybody who throws oneself into and loves and cares about the international shipping industry with its relevant laws is sincerely respected and appreciated by the people in this session. And you all have the privilege to join in this session. But as one knows, every opportunity contains responsibility and agood chance always means challenge and effort. To revitalize the shipping industry, we need to make great use of all our talents and capacities to show that we are great sailors. By doing so, we are capable enough to overcome the financial storm and snatch back amuch better life. This is also exactly the purpose and task of this session of the international symposium in which our mission in the following six months just lies. Go and do bury yourself in the discussion of our extensive topics, go but do not wait until tomorrow as it will be too late. Please be motivated and exploit your talents and abilities and use your knowledge to serve the shipping industry. Let's be united and work hard together to proceed our great undertaking and strive for our common goal. Let's be confident, let's spare no effort, let's make friend and cooperate with each other. 7 The Seventh International Conference on Maritime Law Date of Conference: November, 2009 Place of Conference: The Seventh International Conference on Maritime Law will be held in Shanghai, the biggest city of China, which is located in the Yangtze River Delta. Known to the world as the Oriental Pearl, Shanghai was also one of the earliest trade ports to the outside world in the recent history. Shanghai is designated by the Chinese government as an international marine center as well as an international financial center, and she is not only acity with developed technology, trade, finance and information, and with the largest trading port in the world, but also a good place for communication and incorporation of the different cultures in the world. Shanghai is so ancient with details of the Chinese culture and various relics from the history, and Shanghai is so prosperous, breathing amodern spirit. World Expo 2010 is to be held in Shanghai. Language: The official languages of the conference are Chinese and English. If encountering any problem in registration, participants may contact the Conference Office. Substitution may be made in writing, which will not result in any increase of the fees, but it is strongly advised to get the Conference Office informed in advance in doing so.only those who register for the conference can attend it. Registration fee does not cover the accommodation fee. Registration fee and accommodation fee will be confirmed when the Conference Office received your Money Order. Cancellation Policy: Awritten cancellation request to be received by the Conference Office on or before October 1, 2009 will be subject to an administration charge of 30% of the total fee paid.
