The core technology is the Ampelmann system, a motion compensation platform that allows easy, fast and safe access from a moving vessel to offshore structures, even in high wave conditions. With a doubling of the fleet every year since 2008, Ampelmann currently operates 20 systems world-wide transferring offshore crew from various types of vessels to offshore oil & gas platforms, offshore turbines, FPSO s and all other fixed and floating structures at sea. Ampelmann s base model is the A-type. The platform has 2m stroke cylinders and gangways of 20 and 25m maximum reach. The newly developed (2012) workhorse is the E-type. With 3m stroke cylinders the system can carry up to 100 tons of payload. It can be fitted with standard A-type gangways and client-specific gangway and crane types reaching to maximum 65m. Ampelmann continues to build its fleet of standard systems adding innovations in application: ship-to-ship functionality, cargo transfer, hose support, re-fueling operations, continuous transfer and many more. Construction of offshore wind farms Van Oord has been involved in a large number of offshore wind energy projects in the past decade. Our involvement originally focused on construction activities such as export and interarray cable installation, scour protection and seabed preparation. In December 2010, Van Oord completed the Belwind Phase 1 Offshore Wind Farm off the coast of Zeebrugge (Belgium). Belwind has a capacity of 165 MW and supplies green energy to approximately 175,000 Belgian households. In addition, Van Oord has acted as EPC contractor for the construction of two meteo (meteorological) masts, installed in the North Sea in September Vessel Aeolus Van Oord ordered an offshore wind transport and installation vessel in December This vessel, named Aeolus, will become operational in the autumn of The Aeolus is 139 m long, 38 m wide, and is equipped with a crane capable of hoisting 900 tonnes.
15 Current Projects In 2012, Van Oord OWP started work on the Teesside Offshore Wind Farm on the North East coast of the United Kingdom. Our activities comprised the Balance of Plant scope for 27 foundations, infield cable installation and the installation of scour protection around the foundations. Teesside offshore windfarm will be operational in summer Van Oord has signed an EPC contract to install the cables for the Dan Tysk project. Offshore construction will be carried out in summer Van Oord is the preferred contractor for the Dutch Eneco Luchterduinen Wind Farm. The wind farm will be constructed 23 km off the coast of Zandvoort. The wind farm will consist of 43 Vestas V112 wind turbines. With a capacity of 129 MW, it will supply green energy to 135,000 households. Construction of the Eneco Luchterduinen Wind Farm will commence in July 2014 and the wind farm will become operational in autumn In addition to our EPC activities, we have provided construction services to various contractors for scour protection and infield cable installation for offshore wind farms off the British coast. Van Oord is also executing preparatory works for EPC contracts for two Dutch wind farms north of the island of Schiermonnikoog. We plan to deploy the Aeolus on these projects. Van Oord OWP is rapidly expanding its involvement in the many offshore wind farm projects in Northwest Europe. We believe in the growth of the offshore wind energy sector.

SMULDERS WIND TURBINE CONSTRUCTIONS (WTC) Specialist in serial production of offshore foundations for renewable energy Smulders Group started 20 years ago with the production of steel towers for land-based wind turbines. Approximately 10 years later in 2002 Smulders Group started with the construction of steel mono-pile foundations and transition pieces for the first offshore wind turbine park, Horns Rev1 in the North Sea, and evolved from pioneer to one of the market leaders with an established track record. Today more than 850 offshore foundations have been manufactured by Smulders. To meet the strong increasing demand for capacity and efficiency, a new production hall has been built besides the existing hall in Hoboken (Antwerp). The location is completely set up for
17 current and future generations of foundations like jackets, tripods, tri-piles and the like. In total, Smulders Projects can produce over 200 foundations a year in Antwerp. SMULDERS HIGH GRADE CONSTRUCTIONS (HGC) Specialist high grade steel structures for offshore application, processing sites, bridges and buildings Under the HGC division the high end steel construction with a capacity of over tons/year is available. Heavy structures, big quantities, high quality, logistical challenges, on site assembly and erection, all this can be engineered, produced, transported, assembled / erected under own supervision and project management. Besides, offshore high voltage transformer stations are produced under the High Grade Constructions division. A track record proves their competences and capacities: Belwind, London Array and West of Duddon Sands wind farm. Under construction or in order are : Amrum Bank, Humber Gateway, Butendiek, Nördlicher Grund and Luchterduinen wind farm transformer stations. Evidently, on- & offshore Oil & Gas applications like minimum facility platforms and living quarters, jackets but also stinger frames, jack-up legs, pipe racks for dredging / scouring are within the HGC possibilities.
