First and foremost we have the space and capacity. Our five deep water keys, our spacious outdoor port areas and warehouses enable us to welcome even the most complicated offshore projects. Our enormous capacity is one of our biggest assets. Many Norwegian ports are congested. We have the space, the know-how and the will to service. We have decided to leave container handling and general cargo to our neighbouring ports in Stavanger and Kristiansand and market ourselves as an ideal project harbour. We can, and will meet the requirements of the offshore industry. Being a small organization as we are really helps! Our location on the south coast of Norway means short distances to the oil and gas fields in the southern part of the North Sea and, as we are the closest port to the European continent, we are ideally located for short and long term storage. Storage capacity is often crucial for the offshore business. We have plenty, both outdoors and indoors. We have a large variety of heated and non-heated warehouses ranging from 600m² to m². FFS A/S is the branch name of the Farsund Fortøyningsselskap A/S. The activity started in 1982 with boatmen work for Elkem Lista and various shipowners for ships in layup. The company was awarded Achilles certificate in The boatmen and mooring activity is still one of the most important and challenging operations of our business. A focus on well-proven routines and seaman skills and safety are the factors that makes us to a preferred partner for complex mooring operations by leading offshore companies. Towing and salvage is another important part of the company. Our tugs are approved for towing, guard and st.by operations and suitability controlled by surveyors from DNV, Noble Denton, Bureau Vogtschmidt Lloyds register, and many others. Our tugs are implemented in our SM system approved by Germanischer Lloyds where we hold D.O.C for Norway and St. Vincent & the grenadines. Normal operations for our tugs: Ship/Barge handling and harbor towage. Towing of steel sections and constructions on barge. Towage of new building`s from Baltic to Norwegian yards. St.by and guard service for hyperbaric operations. Out hiring of barges for ocean and harbor transports. Emergency towage and salvage, firefighting. We have specialised in electro mechanics, but our mechanical workshops in Farsund are also fully equipped for general maintenance of offshore and subsea installations. Located in the south western corner of Norway we have the North Sea as our next door neighbour. Our deep water keys are suited for supply ships and cargo vessels. We have two workshops in Farsund. Our main location is less than a kilometre away from the port, and the other one is right on the key, in a spacious warehouse equipped with three overhead cranes (60 tons). Here we offer maintenance and storage of heavy equipment for the oil and gas industry. We are also ready to serve the oil companies off shore. We have employees with offshore courses, qualified to work on offshore installations. We take pride in serving our customers on a short notice, knowing that time is a crucial factor in the oil business. Our services include, sheet metal work, welding, industrial mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, sand blasting and painting according to NORSOK-requirements. We are also skilled and experienced in steel constructions, aluminium and stainless constructions. Our personnel s qualifications and multi skills represent the quality of the products/services we provide. ASCO Norge currently has 120 employees, including permanent and temporary positions. We have specialist skilled personnel within logistics solutions, drilling logistics, material management and marine services. ASCO Farsund Base The ASCO base in Farsund was established on 8th June 2007, with operations starting on 1st September the same year. The base became a part of the ASCO family as a result of Alcoa (former Elkem Aluminium) outsourcing their entire transport-/stevedoring department. ASCO in Farsund now operates the Alcoa quay structures which includes loading/discharging of all vessels (approx tonnes per year), internal transport etc. The contract with Alcoa has a contract period of 5 years (plus 2 x 3 year option periods). ASCO, Farsund can also serve as a back-up base if anything unforeseen should occur in Tananger; i.e. a strike. The base has a capacity for delivery of 180 m3 water per hour. BDC/ NEXEN, BP, Talisman, Conoco- Phillips, DONG and other operators in the southern North Sea, also on Danish sector, are potential oil related customers.
