2 s SEMINAR AGENDA Introduction As ICT advancements happen, convergence of networks takes on an even faster pace. Protection against intrusions, prohibited information disclosures, and assuring revenue-generation are becoming daunting tasks. Thus, to handle this transformation and protect the network from threats, wireless, wireline and cable service providers need to approach security in a new way. It is important to identify that effective network security is a process and not a product. The dynamic nature of network security suggests that security be automated so that the network itself can react to and repel threats. As defining coherent, effective, and manageable security policy continues to be a crucial undertaking, the actuality of combining the offense and defense into a single comprehensive system becomes even more apparent. There are both internal and external threats to consider. Businesses need to analyze and understand the network threats, risks and attacks at the right time; thus ensuring an infallible disaster management system. The Event Security First 2007 seminar aims to provide Pakistan s telecom sector a comprehensive overview of network security as well as the tools and the background to enable wellinformed policy making. The event will bring together top telecom and ICT managers who will lead a dialogue on some of the crucial aspects of network security and its importance in the emerging world of converged networks. Focal Points of the Seminar What security risk potentials exist in telecoms networks How long-term planning for mobile security can be achieved Why, in technology convergence, technology solutions are just part of the solution Revenue-assurance This event will provide telecom and ICT professionals and decision-makers the opportunity to attain knowledge of the multidimensional and abstract notion of network security, and will facilitate the generation of an investigative dialogue. within the industry.
