1 Kossuth County Fair August NEW "Kid's op~n Livestock Shows" For Kids 3,d Gride We want YOU to be a participknt and YOUNGER!! at the Kossuth County Fair, too!! You can bring Chickens, DUCkl, Turkeys, Guineas, Rabbits, Bucket Calves, Bottle Lambs, IBig Lambs or even Goats!!!! You will get a chance to Show your animals like the 4-H/FFA Exhibitors do and exhibit ther during the whole fair!! The judging will be on how well ~OU know and care for your animal{s) and how YOU present your project at the Show. You don't have to be from a farm, town kids can join the fun, too!! An Open Livestock Project Identification Form must be postmarked by July 1, The Rules and Identification Form can be downloaded at kossuthcountyfair. com For more information, contact one of the following Fairboard members. 2 General Rules for the Open Livestock Shows 3 rd Grade and Younger The Open Class Livestock Show is a way to get younger kids interested in the fair by allowing them to participate as the 4-H (4 th Grade and Up) members do. These exhibitors will be judged on how well they know their project and how they present their project for show. This is the young exhibitor's project and the exhibitor MUST feel comfortable caring for and showing their project at the fair. These projects will receive a ribbon at the show but will not be on the 4-H Ribbon Auction. All animals MUST be free of infectious conditions. The exhibitor is responsible for making their own Entry Sign to display above their project. This could include things like the Exhibitor's Name, Parent's Name, town your are from, their Project's Name (if they have one), a picture of you and your project, or any information on the project that they might like the fair-goers or judge to know about...just be creative!!! The animals must be cared for during the fair. The area where the project is exhibited but be kept clean. Parents are allowed to help with the project and Entry Sign but it needs to be the child's project!!!! Bucket Calves Must be born from March 1 to June 15 ofthis year. Must be either bottle and bucket fed. No clipping is permitted on these projects. Classes will be determined by exhibitor's age not weight of animal. Calf must be ear tagged and Identification Form completed by July 1. Bottle Lambs Lambs must be born between Jan 1 and May 1 of the current year. Must be bottle fed. Lamb must be ear tagged and Identification Form completed by July 1. Lambs must be shorn one week prior to show Lambs Can be any age but must be born by June 15 of the current year. Do not need to have been bottle fed or need to be market-ready. Lamb must be ear tagged and Identification Form completed by July 1. Lambs must be shorn one week prior to show.

3 Rabbits Must be the exhibitor's project Classes will be determined by number of entries. Any Breed, Sex or Age can be exhibited. Open Class Identification Form must be completed by July 1. Goats Must be the exhibitor's project Must be born by June is" of the current year Classes will be determined by number of entries Any Breed, Sex or Age can be exhibited. Goats must be ear tagged and Identification Form completed by July 1. No clipping or dehorning is required. Poultry Any type of poultry can enter. Project can be any age. Project must be disease free, please check with Mel Haler if questions on this. Identification Form must be completed by July 1. Kids 3 rd Grade and Younger are still able to show in the Open Pet Show (for all pets not in one of the above shows) and in the Open Hog Show which is for Market-ready swine. All ages, including adults, participate in this show at the same time. There is also an Open Llama Show for all ages on Friday night. 4 ~'d's Open Livestock Show Participant. We are so glad to have you part of an exciting event at this year's Kossuth Co Fair. Listed below will be in times that you can bring your animal to the fair and your approximate as well as a list of what you need to bring with you. show time This week you also need to be working on your sign that will be hanging above your project. An 8X10 or bigger sign should be made that includes your Name, Parent's Name, Where you are from, Your Animal's name and any other information that you would like the fair-goers to know. Be creative!!! With the hot weather, we also need to make sure that the animals always have water and the area where your project is kept, is always kept clean. Bring your own food/water supplies. If you have any questions during the fair; stop by the fair office located by the main North Gate for help. Be sure to stop by the Algona Publishing Booth located by the South Entrance of Floral Hall on Friday or Saturday between 4-7 p.m. to get your picture taken for the fair addition ofthe newspaper. Bring your ribbon with you for the picture!! Bucket Calves Entry: Wednesday, Aug 3 rd from 8-10 am and Thursday, Aug a" from 8-10 am Show: Friday, Aug s". approx. 3 p.m. Bedding supplied by Kossuth Co Cattleman. Rabbits Entry: Wednesday, Aug. s" from 8-10 a.m at the Rabbit Barn Show: Wednesday, Aug. s" approximately Noon Goats Entry: Wednesday, Aug 3 th from Show: Thursday, Aug 4th following the 4-H Meat Goat Show=Approx Poultry Entry: Wednesday, Aug 4th from Show: Friday, Aug s" Check in approx 1 p.m. to see how the 4-H Show if going. Your show will follow the 4-H Poultry which has lasting 5-6 hours in previous years. Be sure to watch the 4-Her's on how they show their projects. Bottle Lambs Entry: Wednesday, Aug 3 th from Show: Thursday, Aug 4th Approx 12:30 p.m. Hog Show Thursday evening, Aug 4th. Pigs must be Market Ready and will compete with all ages. Kids thru Adult.
