The Mesa County 4-H Leadership Council is discovering the superhero s inside themselves and others. Please attend a council meeting and see what super hero we explore next! 3 Mesa County TRA Shoot Saturday, June 8th Orchard Mesa Gun Club All disciplines accept Shotgun Saturday, June 13th - Shotgun Only Grand Junction Trap Club Shotgun Only Entry Forms and More information to follow Swine Nomination Process: Nominations due to the Extension Office by May 8th, 2015 Nomination forms can be picked up at the office or on the website Pigs must be ear notched using the standard ear notching system Photos must be included with nomination form One of each side One of the face Ear Notches must be visible in photo Pictures will be evaluated and you will be notified if the pictures are acceptable. At the end of this newsletter are samples of pictures that are acceptable If you have any questions please contact the office Do not wait until the 8th to get these completed NO LATE SWINE NOMINATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR ANY REASON Pigs being nominated for the state fair must be ear tagged prior to June 1st. Please notify the office of intent to nominate for the state fair. Below is the universal ear notching system: Pigs Right Ear is the Litter Number - Left Ear is the Individual number No more than two notches in each numbered area of the ear

4 Mesa County Rabbit Project In order to have rabbits that are the appropriate age for all Market classes at the Mesa County Fair Breeding of rabbits should occur between the following Dates: March 22nd and April 5th If you have any questions, please call Lisa Pfalzgraff at or Leiah Burnham at LIVESTOCK WEIGH-IN DATES Sheep/Goat Weigh-In May 8 5:00-7:00 PM Swine Tag-In Registration sheets are due to the office by 5 PM May 8th. The forms can be found on the TRA Website. 1st Year Livestock Members are expected to attend a Marketing Class to get them familiar with the process of the livestock sale. Any older members are welcome to attend the class as well. This class will be held April 23rd or May 6th. This class will be held at the Ag Shop at the high school in Fruita at 6:00 pm. Please call Matt with any questions about this meetings at Meat Quality Assurance Workshops All 4-H members must attend the Wholesome Meat training once as a Junior (13 and under) and once as a Senior (14 and over). The following is a schedule of training sessions available in the Tri River Area: April 13th - Montrose Fairgrounds - 6:30pm April 14th - Delta Fairgrounds - 6:30pm April 15th - Mesa Fairgrounds - 6:30pm June 6th - TRA Livestock Field Day, Montrose County Fairgrounds, MQA 2-3 PM NOTE: If you are unable to attend the MQA training in Mesa County, please plan to attend one in another county Livestock/Horse Record Books will be due Thursday, September 4 no later than 5:00 pm.
