1 WRIGHT Elementary December/ January 2016/2017 Principal s Message Dear Wright Families, Happy December Faye Wright Community! Wright Elementary has had an amazing November! Conferences have come and gone and as you have seen, your children are learning at a rapid rate! What an amazing group of students; thank you so much for the support you give them every day at home. It is evident to us that you take your student s learning seriously. A HUGE shout out to all who supported our students during the Jog A Thon! Your students are such AMAZING troopers. As you recall, even with the downpour, the students ran fast and ran hard! Because of you, Wright Elementary earned $14,915.06!! What a tremendous representation of community support! On behalf of all Wright Staff and students Thank You! Another celebration for our Wright Community because of YOU and your STUDENTS, our Wright families who are in need will have access to over ¾ of a TON of food this Holiday Season. Thank you so much for the generosity you have shown throughout this year! With so much to celebrate, it is my hope that you take some time for yourself and rest up, you deserve it! Jan. 13 th Vision Screening Oregon Lions Foundation will be coming to complete vision screenings on all K 5 th grade students. If you would like your child(ren) to opt out, please notify the school office in writing prior to that date. Jan. 20 th Family Night Dance Fit (more details to come) Box Tops & Soup Labels Thank you all for saving and sending in your Box Tops and Campbell Soup labels. We just sent in $ worth of Box Tops that you have saved during the summer. Yay! Ms. Wright will put that money to good use buying books for the library. This is the last year that Campbells is sponsoring the soup label program. We have until June to collect all we can. We will remind you in April to scour your cupboards for labels. To be valid, labels must contain the bar code and point value (1, 5, or 10) not just the front of the label. Keep up the good work Falcons! TRANSPORTATION Please let the school office know about any changes to drop off and/or pick up plans for your student(s). PARENT/ GUARDIAN CONTACT INFO It is very important that parents/guardians keep their contact information current. Be sure to let your school office know if you have a new address, or phone number. 6 School Breakfast & Lunch Salem Keizer Public Schools provides healthy, nutritious meals to our students. The cost for full price meals is as follows: Breakfast $1.00 Lunch $2.30 Milk $0.40 Your child may qualify for free or reduced price meals if: 1. Your household receives Food Stamps, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or benefits from the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), OR: 2. Your household income is at or below the amount on the Income Chart. You can apply in person by filling out an application at your school or online at Online Payment Portal Parents of Salem Keizer students have a convenient option for paying student fees. Through the Online Payment Portal, parents can use a credit card to pay athletic fees, library book fees, purchase ASB cards, make a donation, and take care of other payment transactions. The Online Payment portal processing fee is the same as the fee charged when making a credit card payment in the school office (2.75 percent). VOLUNTEERS Volunteers and community partners play an important role in Salem Keizer Public Schools. Each day in every school, volunteers support and encourage staff and students, take an active role in helping every student achieve. Through their contributions of time, energy, inspiration and expertise, volunteers often report they receive more than they give. Anyone may apply to become a volunteer.
