1 Volunteering with help2kids in Tanzania Our volunteering program in Tanzania offers you the unique opportunity to immerse yourself into the traditions of a fascinating African country. Join a young and dynamic team and experience the work of a NGO in Africa.

2 General help2kids offers you the opportunity to discover the wonders of Africa and to live an unique experience in an aid organization. We continuously need up to 11 volunteers for our children home and primary school projects in Tanzania. The minimum age requirement is 18 years. Requirements Experience with children is an asset but not obligatory. Tell us your strengths, skills and interests. We have many projects and need different profiles, talents and competences. We are looking for motivated, flexible, adaptable, openminded, communicative and pro-active volunteers who wish to immerse themselves into the Tanzanian culture and traditions. Your tasks as a volunteer may include (according to your wishes): Caring of the children Teaching English and assisting the children in their homework (at the orphanage and primary school, you can also work on both projects) Teaching IT / computer skills Accompanying the children to school Planning and organizing free time and sport activities for the children Household and administrative duties Sharing culture and traditions Participating to trips If you have any preferences or wishes regarding your work let us know! Also tell us what you are interested in or if you have some specials skills or knowledge which could be beneficial to our project. We have different kind of assignments and would be happy to delegate these in accordance with you! What can you do during the weekend? There are plenty of nice beaches, restaurants, bars and clubs close to the Friendly Gecko Guest House. Usually our volunteers go out on Friday or Saturday night and relax on the beaches of Mbudya Island on Sunday (very close and cheap). There are also shopping malls in Dar es Salaam where you can buy whatever you need. Not to miss during your stay in Tanzania is of course Zanzibar (only 30min to the ferry terminal from the guest

3 house) and to go on Safari to experience the stunning wildlife of Tanzania. The closest national park is Mikumi (4 hours bus drive, USD 80 per day for a guided tour) and it offers the opportunity to see all the most important animals. Have a look at the activities page of the Friendly Gecko website for further inspiration: Accommodation We offer a very nice and comfortable accommodation at the Friendly Gecko Guest House. For more information have a look at All rooms are equipped with mosquito nets and fans. Each dorm (we have a 4-bed and 6bed dormitory) has its own bathroom. We provide our volunteers with bicycles for the daily way to the orphanage or primary school (10-15min). Regarding internet we offer our volunteers the possibility to use our access facilities at the Friendly Gecko Guest House. We have a lot of USB internet sticks ready that can be used with your own computer. Credit can be bought at our manager in the guest house for a low fee (USD 8 per week).

4 Costs Travels costs, visa and assurances are at the expense of the volunteers. The monthly fees are between USD 450 and USD 600 per month. The specific amount depends on the length of your stay (the longer the cheaper) and if you can benefit from a student reduction (USD 50 per month). The fee includes accommodation, food, laundry, cleaning, administration and security. Also one of our managers will always be present to help you with any kind of information or problem. There is no additional volunteering fee at help2kids. With the fees mentioned we just want to cover our expenses and to make also a long-term volunteering of several months affordable. If you wish we can arrange a pick-up at the airport for USD 25. There are also private rooms available at the Friendly Gecko Guest House. If you wish to stay at a private room with air-conditioning we can give you specific quote on request (depends on availability and season). Regarding the meals: Breakfast and dinner will be offered at the guest house. Our volunteers love the food prepared by our chefs mama Anna and Juliet! Drinking water is always available at the guest house and children home. During the weekends the volunteers are responsible for their meals by themselves. We ask the volunteers to pay USD 300 in advance before their arrival in Dar es Salaam. Indicate your availability: when you would like to join our team and how long would you wish to stay. Later on we will also require an up-to-date police report.
