1 Moulton Primary School Newsletter 8 - Friday 4 th November 2016 Campfires and marshmallows in Year 1 On a cold and chilly Wednesday morning, Year 1 ended their Enchanted Woodland learning journey with a real campfire experience. In groups the children wrapped up warm to watch the campfire being lit and learnt about fire safety first hand. We talked about how to stay safe around a campfire and why it is important to follow the rules when they are near an open fire. While we toasted marshmallows we could smell the fire burning and see the flames changing. The children loved tasting the melted marshmallows. Inside they also had the chance to sing songs around an imaginary campfire and discuss Bonfire Safety rules in preparation for the 5 th November. The children have used this fantastic opportunity to write a short narrative about their experience. Miss Roper Burps, Bottoms and Bile! Thank you to all of the parents and carers who came into school on Thursday to help Year 4 make their wearable digestive systems. We really enjoyed sharing our learning with you and it made such a difference to have you there to support us. We hope to share our T-shirts with some of the younger children in school next week. Mrs Muskin New Dictionaries for everyone! A huge thank you to FOMPS - and to parents - for providing new dictionaries for all classes to use as part of their everyday learning. The work that the FOMPS team do to raise funds for the children is so important to the school! The money raised is used to provide the things that the school struggles to fund, and which benefit all the children. This includes the everyday resources such as the dictionaries shown in the picture, to the larger projects which will include developing the new library and improving the playground! If you are able to support FOMPS with any of the fundraising events coming up, your help would be greatly appreciated. SCHOOL PHOTOS Thursday 10 th November If you have a pre-school sibling and wish to have a photo of your children together, please come to the school office at 8.30am. Your school child will also have an individual photo taken.

3 LOST Lewis from class RC has lost his School Fleece, it is age 5/6 and named. Please can we ask you to check your child s clothing over the weekend and return any items not belonging to you. Christmas Fair Saturday 3rd December We are in the process of organising this year s Christmas Fair. What we really need now are volunteers! The event has been massively successful in previous years and we would like it to be as big and even better this year but we need your help!! We need help with things such as the hamper raffle ticket sales, chocolate tombola, children s games, serving refreshments etc. They are all simple tasks and full training will be provided, together with a Santa hat (not compulsory!). It s a really fun event to be involved in, it s extremely festive and enjoyed by all. You only need to volunteer for an hour or two, this makes a huge difference and means that we are able to go ahead with all of the children s activities as planned. There will be a parentmail concerning this very soon. Christmas Cards order now! Hopefully you will have received your child s Christmas card this week featuring their unique design. You may order cards, gift tags, tea towels, mugs etc. these make really super Christmas gifts. The deadline for returning orders is Monday 14 th November at the very latest as we are required to submit our order to the printer in order to ensure that all orders are fulfilled in plenty of time for Christmas. We are unfortunately not able to accept orders after this date. It would help us tremendously if you could return them as soon as possible. Textile Recycling Collection Thank you to those who donated to our latest collection, we will let you know how much was raised in due course. Mufti Day Thank you for your contributions towards this year s Christmas hampers, we have received some super items to include in the hampers. Raffle tickets for the hampers will be on sale at the Christmas Fair. FOMPS is a registered charity and all funds raised go towards providing resources for Moulton Primary School for the benefit of its pupils. If you would like to become involved with FOMPS or just want to know more about us, please do get in touch. We welcome any new suggestions or feedback.
