1 UNIFIED AUDITIONS ARE RETURNING ON AUGUST 18 The South Florida Theatre League's 2014 Unified Auditions will be held at Nova Southeastern University's Performance Theatre on Monday August 18 from 10 AM to 4PM. Michael Leeds' audition workshop will be held the week before on Monday, August 11, with a session devoted to musical theatre from 10 AM to 1 PM and a session devoted to monologues from 2 PM to 5 PM. Here is the FAQ for both the Unified Auditions and Michael Leeds' Audition Workshop. UNIFIED AUDITIONS/DESIGNER SHOWCASE What are Unified Auditions? Unified Auditions are a collective audition process where you can audition for multiple South Florida Theatre League Member Companies. Our auditions allow you to be seen by many small companies that don t get to FPTAs. All of our member theatres will receive a flash drive with the headshots and resumes of all the audition participants. Great! How can I sign up? If you re a theatre league member in good standing, please the following to andie@southfloridatheatre.com: - Your Headshot - Your Resume - Basic contact information, including a cell phone number that you can be reached at on the day of auditions

2 - if you plan to sing or not PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR FULL NAME IS IN THE FILE NAME OF YOUR HEADSHOT AND RESUME! On your computer your resume the only file that says "Acting Resume," but I'm receiving files from every audition participant, so please make my life simplier and put your name in the file name. I've let my South Florida Theatre League Membership lapse, but I want to take part in these auditions -- what can I do? You can rejoin today! Our individual membership application is available here! We're now processing memberships on a year round basis, so if you join today, you'd be up for membership renewal in July My is bouncing back. What do I do? Some of you are sending me very large files at the same time and it can overload my server. First, try to your headshot and resume seperately. Second, them to info@southfloridatheatre.com. I will you back with a timeslot and further instructions. Where are the auditions? I am pleased to announce that the auditions and the workshops will be at Nova Southeastern University's Performance Theatre, which is located inside the University Center. How do I get to Nova Southeastern University? Take 595 to Davie Rd. (Exit 7) Bear left onto Davie Rd. Turn Right onto Nova Drive Left onto College Ave. Right onto Abe Fischler Drive Parking Garage is 2nd Left When you sign up for an audition timeslot, you will be sent a map with instructions on how to get to the University Center from the parking garage. There will be signage and if you have problems during the day of the auditions, there will be someone at the South Florida Theatre League number to take your calls. What do I need to prepare?

3 Prepare a 60-second monologue of your choice. Your 60 seconds will begin with the first word out of your mouth following the announcement of your name and number if you choose to introduce your name and number. You will be asked to stop your audition promptly after 60 seconds NO EXCEPTIONS. You will have the option to sing 16 bars of a song of your choice following your monologue. An accompanist will be provided. No taped accompaniment. Please have clear copies of published vocal selection music in plastic sheets in a binder or secured on cardboard or taped together. Your music must be in the key you sing and clearly marked as to dynamics, tempos, articulation, repeats, and endings. DO NOT arrive with no music, ask the accompanist, "Do you know?", give arrangements that exist in your head and not on paper, give last minute instructions, or have unwritten transpositions. DO briefly explain your needs to the accompanist upon entering the audition holding area before your monologue. I'm not singing 16 bars, may I have additional time for a contrasting monologue? No. Because we want to be able to see as many auditioners as possible, we have to keep to strict time constraints. Because we ran ahead of schedule last year, we're shortening the amount of time between participants, which means we need to keep to the length requirements. I m not an actor, but I am a designer. What is the designer showcase? Depending on how much interest we recieve, we plan to add a designer showcase to the auditions, where designers have a chance to show off their portfolios for a larger group of member theatres. If you want to be a part of the designer showcase, please me at andie@southfloridatheatre.com with your basic contact information, a resume, and your design focus so we can group the set, lighting, and costume designers separately. Even if we don't have a suffient interest from designers to do the full showcase, we are happy to put your resumes and renderings onto our USB drive that we give our producers. We need people to do timekeeping, working the registration table, and to help shepherd actors from the holding area and the theatre. Lunch will be provided. Or; didn t the last update have something about a class? The South Florida Theatre League wants you to have the best audition you can possibly have so we re hosting a workshop the week before with Michael Leeds on Monday August 11th. The workshop will be split into two sessions -- acting and musical theatre. The Musical TheatreWorkshop will be from 10am 1pm and the Acting Workshop from 2-5pm. The accompanist is Caryl Fantel. In the Workshops, Michael will work in-depth with each actor on their audition material. Who is Michael Leeds? Among Michael's extensive credits, besides performing on Broadway and in Nat'l Tours, he wrote and directed the Tony nominated B'way musical, Swinging On A Star, directed and choreographed the Off-B'way hit Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah - The Songs of Allan Sherman (Drama Desk Award nom. Best Director/Best Choreographer), and directed the award winning European Premiere of Arthur Miller s Playing For Time. Locally he has directed productions for many theatres including The Glass Menagerie, Lend Me A Tenor, Mack & Mabel (Carbonell Award Best Musical), A Little Night Music and The Light In The Piazza (both Carbonell noms for Best Musical and Silver Palm Award for Direction) for Broward Stage Door, Driving Miss Daisy and Chapter Two for The Plaza Theatre, The Timekeepers (Carbonell Award for Best Play and Best Director), Body Awareness, and The Twentieth Century Way (Carbonell nom.
