2 About Java Plug-in To run DecisionSpace InSite Anywhere, your computer requires the Java Runtime Environment plug-in (JRE). Required Version You can find the required JRE version for the DecisionSpace InSite Anywhere version you are trying to access in these locations: DecisionSpace InSite Anywhere Release Notes, System Requirements section DecisionSpace InSite Anywhere Login page, bottom right corner Installing either an older OR newer Java version than specified could cause unexpected results. It is recommended to have ONLY ONE version of Java installed. Before you start Uninstall all other versions of Java from your computer unless these are required to run other applications. 3 Install Java Plug-in from the InSite Anywhere server 1. If you attempt to access InSite Anywhere and do NOT have a Java Runtime Environment plug-in (JRE) installed, the InSite Anywhere Attention! page opens. Note If your Java version is older or newer than the recommended version, a similar page opens with a statement to that effect. You can click Continue to login anyway, or you can close the browser, uninstall Java, and access InSite Anywhere again to download the plug-in from the Attention page. 2. Under Option 2 (preferred), click Download plug-in. The File Download Security Warning dialog opens. Important! The screen images provided are examples only. 4 3. Do one of the following: To save the executable file to your computer and install the Java plug-in later, click Save. See instructions: Save and install Java plug-in from your computer. To run and install the plug-in immediately, click Run. Continue with these instructions. After a few moments, the User Account Control dialog opens. 4. Click Yes to allow the program to make changes. After a few moments, the java installation wizard automatically starts and the Java Setup - Welcome dialog opens Halliburton. All rights reserved. 3

5 5. Click Install. The installation begins and the Java Setup - Progress dialog displays status. When finished, the Java Setup - Complete dialog opens Halliburton. All rights reserved. 4

6 6. Click Close. The Verify Java and Find Out-of-Date Versions page opens. 7. Close the page. Do NOT click the Agree and Continue button. The current Java version might be newer than the one required for the InSite Anywhere version you are trying to access, and could cause performance issues Halliburton. All rights reserved. 5

7 Save and install Java plug-in from your computer 1. On the File Download Security Warning dialog 2. Click Save or Save As. The Save As dialog opens Halliburton. All rights reserved. 6

8 3. Navigate to the desired location and click Save. A dialog displays progress. When finished, the Download complete dialog opens. 4. Do one of the following: Click Run to launch the install. The Internet Explorer Security Warning dialog opens. Click Run. Click Open Folder to locate the Java executable, and double-click it. The User Account Control dialog opens. 5. Continue the installation the same as for running the file, starting at step Halliburton. All rights reserved. 7

9 Verify Java version in Windows 7 1. Select Start > Control Panel to open the Control Panel on your computer. If you have Java installed, you will see the Java or Java Plug-in icon. 2. Double-click the Java icon. The Java Control Panel dialog box opens. 3. Select the General tab, and click About. The About Java dialog opens. 4. If the Java version is different than the one required for this InSite Anywhere release, uninstall it and install the recommended version. 5. Close all dialogs Halliburton. All rights reserved. 8

10 Uninstall other Java versions in Windows 7 1. Select Start > Control Panel to open the Control Panel. 2. Click Programs and Features. The Uninstall or change a program dialog opens Halliburton. All rights reserved. 9

11 3. Select (highlight) the Java version you want to uninstall. 4. Click Uninstall. A dialog asks if you are sure. 5. Click Yes to confirm the uninstall Halliburton. All rights reserved. 10
