1 Erie 1 BOCES/WNYRIC Secure File Transfer Upload/Download Wizard Revised June 3, 2014 These instructions were created using Internet Explorer Version 11. If you are a using a Firefox or Chrome browser you will be loading the Java version of the Upload/Download Wizard. Section 6 has an example of loading the Java Wizard. If you are having trouble loading the ActiveX version of the Wizard in Internet Explorer you can try loading the Java version. They both work the same. Sign On to the Secure File Transfer web site, using your Erie 1 BOCES Portal username and password. SFTP Upload/Download Wizard rev. June 3, 2014 Page 1

2 2. After you Sign On you may be prompted to install the Upload/Download Wizard if you not have already done so. If you are not prompted, Section 6 will explain how to install the Wizard from the My Account link. Click Install the Upload/Download Wizard (ActiveX) link. You are going to receive a number of security warnings depending upon the web browser and security settings. Click OK. You will get a message at the bottom or top of the screen asking if it is OK to install the Wizard. Click Install. SFTP Upload/Download Wizard rev. June 3, 2014 Page 2

3 You may get another Security Warning. Click Retry. Click Install again. You should see the following message. Notice the message says the Wizard installed OK. This procedure only needs to be completed once on the computer you are using. SFTP Upload/Download Wizard rev. June 3, 2014 Page 3

4 3. How to upload an entire folder using the Upload/Download Wizard. When you select a folder to Upload using the Wizard, it only uploads the contents of the folder and does not create the folder name on the SFTP server. The Vendor is promising to fix this is a future release so until then we are going to show you how to create a new folder on the SFTP server. Starting at your Home screen, which is accessed from the Home link on the left navigation pane. Click the Add Folder button.. Fill in the Name: and click Add Folder. SFTP Upload/Download Wizard rev. 5 Go back to the Home screen using the Home link on the left navigation pane. Click on the folder you just created. Under Upload Files Now notice the Select a folder: box has the folder that you will be uploading to. Click the CLICK HERE to Launch the Upload/Download Wizard link. SFTP Upload/Download Wizard rev. 6 The following dialog box should be displayed. Click the Add Folder button and a dialog will pop up to select a folder on your PC. You could also open a File Explorer window and drag a folder into the middle area of the Wizard. Select the directory you would like to upload and click the OK button. Click the OK button again. 7 The Wizard dialog will be updated with the list of files to be uploaded. Click Next. Click Next again and the upload will begin. When it is finished you will see a message like this: Click OK and you re done. SFTP Upload/Download Wizard rev. June 3, 2014 Page 7

8 4. How to download an entire folder Navigate to the folder containing the folder you want to download. Click the checkbox next to the folder name and click the Download button. SFTP Upload/Download Wizard rev. June 3, 2014 Page 8

9 You ll get a dialog box to select where on your computer to download the folder. Select a folder and click OK the folder will be downloaded. Unlike the upload, the Download Wizard will create the folder name you selected on your computer. If you choose the Make New Folder button, it will create the folder under the highlighted folder. 10 5. To download a single file Simply navigate to the directory that contains the files and use the Download link on the far right side. 6. How to manually install the Upload/Download Wizard or Disable the Wizard If you click the My Account link near the upper right corner of the page you will have the option to control the Wizard. These examples are from a Firefox browser. The Java Wizard will also work with Internet Explorer. Click the Change Upload/Download Wizard Status (Java Version) and you will be given the options to install the Java Download Wizard SFTP Upload/Download Wizard rev. June 3, 2014 Page 10

11 Click Install and Enable the Upload/Download Wizard (Java). You ll probably get prompted to allow access. Click Allow and the Wizard will be installed.
