Analysis of the Asia Pacific AMDAR Marketplace Specifics of the Asia Pacific Airline Market as it relates to AMDAR The following points were used to develop a rating system for targeting the VHF ACARS equipped Airlines in this region. It was assumed that this type of marketing would have to be done on a minimal but effective pursuit program (biggest results from least number of airlines). While this is not the only way to prioritize AMDAR marketing activities in the region, it is the authors suggested initial approach. The Asia Pacific market has a number of significant players with overlapping routes and frequent long distance destination with some overlap with Europe and Central Asia. The region has a growing number of regional and low cost operators which could potentially provide frequent and localized AMDAR data. There are also a number of larger operators that have both regional and long-haul fleets. It may be desirable to pursue these operators for certain aircraft types as they delineate nicely between long haul and short haul fleets to avoid collecting and paying for data in places like Europe or other regions with sufficient AMDAR data. The map displays the ICAO designators for locations in the region that the subject airlines have scheduled service to/from. Figure 5b displays the routes of airlines operating from Asia Pacific bases, while Figure 5c shows those airlines that are ACARS users in the region. These airlines have been ordered according to their size of fleet/route structure and as to their rating of suggested marketing effort. The airlines that are shown in bold italics have available route data that is shown in the attached route maps.
