Our focus during the 21 Days are: Fasting: Enjoy plenty of vegetables and water; refrain from all meats, sweets/sugar products, caffeine/carbonated beverages, pastas and bread. Fitness: Add 15 minutes of exercise each day Faith: Grow a deeper relationship with God by reading the bible and praying daily for our leaders. Family & Friends: Plan a dinner, outing or fun activity with family and/or friends on the Saturdays during consecration Finances: Refrain from the use of credit cards, pay day loans and check cashing places. For 21 Days refrain from unnecessary expenses, eating out, or perhaps give up that daily Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. Create a Consecration Blessing Jar/Box and place the money you save in it. At the end of the 21 Days extend your generosity to a worthy cause (i.e. Christ Dominion Church, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army or any cause of your choosing). Fasting is the voluntary abstinence from particular aspects of life in order to seek deeper dimensions of fellowship and blessing with God. The Bible give examples of two kinds of fasts: the absolute fast(no food) that Jesus and Moses observed in Matthew 4:2 and Exodus 34:28 and the partial fasts (abstaining from pleasures and delicacies) that Daniel and John the Baptist observed in Daniel 1:8, Matthew 3:4. Choose one of the below options for the fast: Consume only water from 6:00am until 6:00pm. Eat a light meal after 6:00pm. Eat only one meal per day. (No sweets, pork, caffeine, carbonated drinks, fried foods) Juices, fruits/vegetables maybe consumed in moderation. Participate in the Daniel Fast; no meats, breads, or sweets. You may eat vegetables, nuts, and fruits. The number of meals is not restricted Eat three small meals per day, as directed by your physician with medications.

According to the Bible, there are three duties of every Christian: give, pray and fast. Fasting takes a lot of discipline and strength strength which you can only receive from God. Your private discipline will bring you rewards in Heaven. When you give God your first through fasting and prayer at the beginning of the year, you set the course for the entire year. We strongly encourage you to pray about what the focus of your fast should be and to make that decision for yourself. It is Pastor Miller's heart that God will touch you personally and that you will see the hand of God in every area of your own life as you fast and pray. FASTING AND YOUR HEALTH: If you are in poor health or have concerns about your physical ability to fast, please consult a physician before beginning the fast. There are different types of fasts. Your doctor can provide advice on how you can participate in a way that is healthy for you. TYPES OF FASTS The type of fast you choose is between you and God. He will honor your best sacrifice. You may want to include a combination of fasts. For example, you may want to participate in a Full Fast for 1-3 days and then continue with a Daniel Fast for the remainder of your time of consecration. Before beginning any type of fast, consult your physician. Full Fast: Drink only liquids (you establish the number of days). The Daniel Fast: Eat no meat, no sweets and no bread. Drink water and 100% natural juices. Eat fruits, vegetables and certain grains. Partial Fast: A partial fast is from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm or from sun up to sundown. This fast can be a Full Fast or a Daniel Fast. 6 PREPARATION FOR THE 21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING Reason And Strategy For Fasting Through fasting and prayer we humble ourselves before God so the Holy Spirit can stir our souls, awaken our churches, and heal our land according to 2 Chronicles 7:14. Healing and restoration is our major priority. Get a prayer journal and write down all the instructions for your fast and organize a plan and schedule before you begin. This is important because once the fast begins, you might try to convince yourself to quit. The schedule can then act as a contract you have made with the fast that you must keep. Remind yourself why you are doing the fast and remember that it is important. Days Before The Fast Cut down on foods with high caffeine, salt, and sugar content. If you cut them off all of a sudden, expect to experience headaches, stomachaches and a general feeling of discomfort. Begin drinking more water than usual. Begin eating smaller meals prior to your fast. Cutting down your meals a few days before signals your mind, stomach and appetite for the fast. The Day Before The Fast Resist the temptation to eat a big last supper the night before the fast. Avoid foods with caffeine and salt. Drink plenty of water. Gather everything you need for your fast before you begin. How you begin and conduct your fast will largely determine your success. During The Fast Restrict physical or social activities. Exercise only moderately. Walking and gardening are excellent ways to stimulate your metabolism without straining your body. Devote most of the time to prayer and reading scriptures. Rest as much as your schedule will permit. Expect some physical discomforts, especially on the second day. You may have fleeting hunger pains and dizziness. Withdrawal from caffeine and sugar may cause headaches. The first two or three days are usually the hardest. As you continue to fast, you will likely experience a sense of well-being both physically and spiritually. However, should you feel hunger pains, increase your liquid intake. Expect Great Rewards If you sincerely humble yourself before God, repent, pray, and seek His face; if you consistently meditate on His Word, expect the following: You will experience a heightened awareness of His presence. Your confidence and faith in God will be strengthened. You will feel mentally, spiritually, and physically refreshed. You will see answers to your prayers. Good health. Understanding of visions and dreams. Great Favor with God and Man. Spiritual breakthrough in your marriage, finances, relationships, etc. Angelic intervention in your spiritual battles. Supernatural strength imparted to you. Deep insight into the spiritual realm. Heightened spiritual sensitivity. New level of prophetic anointing. Personal holiness

How To Make Your Fast More Effective Covenant as a household of family over this fast. Spend extended time worshipping God. Listen/play worship music frequently. Pick several times during the day that you pray at least five times a day. Read the bible and listen to God all the time. Journal every day what God does in your life during this fast. Don t go to bed without praying with your spouse, children, or church family on a daily basis. Foods to include in your diet during the Daniel Fast All fruits: These can be fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned (watch for added sugar). Apples Apricots Avocados Bananas Berries Blackberries Blueberries Boysenberries Breadfruit Cantaloupe Cherries Coconuts Cranberries Dates Figs Grapefruit Grapes Grenadine Guava Honeydew Kiwi Lemons Limes Mangoes Melons Mulberry Nectarines Oats Olives Oranges Papayas Peaches Pears Pineapples Plums Prunes Raisins Raspberries Strawberries Tangelos Tangerines Watermelon Vegetables: These can be fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned (watch salt content). Artichokes Asparagus Beets Broccoli Brussel Spr. Cabbage Carrots Cauliflower Celery Chili peppers Collard Gr. Corn Cucumbers Eggplant Garlic Ginger root Kale Leeks Lettuce Mushrooms Mustard Gr. Okra Onions Parsley Peppers Potatoes Radishes Rutabagas Scallions Spinach Sprouts Squashes Sweet potatoes Tomatoes Turnips Watercress Yams Zucchini Legumes: Dried beans Black beans Cannellini Pinto beans Split peas Lentils Black eyed peas Green beans Green peas Kidney beanspeanuts (includes natural peanut butter) Beans Lupines White beans Peas Seeds: All nuts (raw, unsalted) Sprouts Ground flax Cashews Walnuts Sunflower Sesame Almonds Natural Almond Butter Whole Grains: Whole wheat Brown rice Millet Quinoa Oats Rolled Oats Plain Oatmeal- not instant Barley Grits (no butter) Whole wheat pasta Whole wheat tortillas Plain Rice cakes Popcorn (see recipe in FAQ s) Liquids: Water (spring, distilled, filtered) Herbal (caffeine free) Tea Unsweetened Soy Milk 100% Fruit/Vegetable Juice (no added sugar)

Other: Tofu Soy products Herbs Small amounts of Honey Small amounts of Sea Salt Small amounts of Ezekiel Bread Small amounts of Olive Oil Spices (read the label to be sure there are no preservatives) Foods to avoid on the Daniel Fast All animal products including all meat, poultry, fish White rice white bread All deep fried foods Caffeine Refined foods Raw sugar Syrups Molasses Cane juice White flour Margarine Shortening High fat products Butter All leavened breads Baked goods All dairy Milk Cheese Yogurt Cream Eggs Alcohol Mayonnaise Coffee (including decaf b/c contains small amount of caffeine) Carbonated beverages Energy drinks Foods containing preservatives, additives Processed foods Food additives Refined sugar Sugar substitutes Common FAQ s What about prepared foods? Read the labels of all prepared foods. Remember the Daniel Fast is sugar-free and chemical-free. So, if you use any canned fruits, vegetables, packaged foods, or prepared sauces you must read the label to be aware about just what is in there. What about pasta? Make sure the label says whole grain pasta with no additives (watch for sugar). Whole grain pasta offers 7grams of protein per serving (3/4 cup of dried pasta). I know it says raw, unsalted nuts, but what about roasted nuts? The goal would be to stick to raw, unsalted nuts. But these are harder to find so in a pinch just make sure you get plain roasted, unsalted nuts with no preservatives. How do I get enough protein in my diet while on the fast? The following are protein-rich foods that are allowed on the Daniel Fast almonds, sunflower seeds, lentils, quinoa, brown rice, split peas, whole grains, and tofu.

How can I identify whole grain foods? Typically if the ingredient lists "whole wheat", "rolled oats", or "whole corn" as the first ingredient, the product is a whole grain food item. Another way to identify whole grains in the foods you eat is to look in the nutritional facts information and check if the food item contains dietary fiber. If it contains a significant amount, it most likely contains whole grains. "Wheat flour" is not a whole grain and therefore does not indicate a whole grain product. What about salad dressing? Olive oil and lemon or lime are an option. Do I need to eat organic foods while on the fast? No, but it is suggested because organic foods are produced without the use of feed or fertilizer of plant or animal origin and without employment of chemically formulated fertilizers, growth stimulants, antibiotics, or pesticides. What about bread? We are recommending the Ezekiel bread found in the freezer section of your grocery/health food store. How much can I eat? As long as they are the appropriate foods, we are recommending eating until satisfied with no limits.
