1 AMSA After-Prom 2015 Frequently Asked Questions For Parents and Students Q. What is AMSA After-Prom? A. AMSA After-Prom offers students an opportunity to continue the fun and excitement of Prom night in a safe, alcohol and drug-free environment. Q. When is After-Prom? A. After-Prom is immediately following Prom, the evening of May 15. Friday 5/15/15 11:30 pm Saturday 5/16/15 5:00 am. Q. Where is After-Prom? A. This year s After-Prom will take place at YMCA of Central MA, 4 Valente Drive, Westborough, MA Q. Who can go to After-Prom? A. The event is open to all AMSA juniors and seniors. If an AMSA student is bringing a non-amsa guest to Prom, then that non-amsa guest is also invited to After-Prom. Non-AMSA guests may not arrive separately; they must come to After-Prom with AMSA student on bus. Non-AMSA students who did not attend Prom will not be permitted to attend After-Prom. Q. Can I attend After-Prom even if I don t go to Prom? A. Yes. AMSA juniors and seniors may attend After-Prom without having gone to Prom. AMSA After Prom 2015 Page 1

2 Q. How do I sign up? A. Signed (by student and parent) After-Prom Permission Slip and Liability Waiver forms for each participant, including non-amsa guests, and payments are to be submitted by May 8, Put all forms and payment in an envelope labeled After-Prom and give to Mrs. MacAdams in the Upper School front office. Q. What is the cost for After-Prom? A. The cost is $25 per student/non-amsa guest. Cash or check is accepted. Please make checks payable to: AMSA PTO, and note After-Prom in comment section of the check. Q. Can I add the Prom fee and After-Prom fee together in one check? A. No. Prom tickets and After-Prom entrance fees must be paid separately. You can pay for 2 After-Prom entrance fees together, however. Please note student/guest names on check, if paying for both together. Q. Can I just show up at After-Prom and pay at the door? A. No. Permission slips and payment will not be accepted at the door the night of After-Prom. Students must take care of this by May 8, Q. How do I get to the After-Prom party? A. Students/non-AMSA guests will NOT be allowed to drive themselves to or from the event. Students attending Prom will be bused to the YMCA immediately after Prom. Students not attending Prom should be DROPPED OFF at the YMCA between 11:30 pm - 12:00 am. All students and non-amsa guests must be picked up at the YMCA by 5:00 am. AMSA After Prom 2015 Page 2

3 Q. Can an After-Prom attendee leave early? A. Students are expected to remain at the YMCA for the entirety of the event - until 5:00 am, May 16 th. If however, a student absolutely needs to leave earlier than 5:00 am, a parent/guardian-signed note must be provided prior to the event, and parent/guardian must come into YMCA to pick up student. Students will not be allowed to drive themselves home. Please us at amsaafterprom@gmail.com if you would like to arrange an earlier pick up time. Q. Where will I change out of my Prom clothes? A. Locker rooms will be available. Bring hangers and garment bags to store Prom clothes. Q. What should I bring? A. You will want a change of clothes and shoes. If you plan to swim, bring a bathing suit, towel, cover up or T-shirt, flip flops. Bring a hanger and garment bag for your Prom dress or tuxedo. Camera, cell phones, tablets are allowed. Q. Will there be food/drink at After-Prom? A. Yes. A late night snack and an early breakfast will be served. Options will include vegetarian, as well as gluten-free, foods. Students will not be hungry or thirsty! Q. Can I bring outside food or drink? A. No. There will be plenty of free food and drink at the event. Please do not bring outside drink containers of any kind. Q. What if a student has a food/drink allergy? A. Please make sure all food/drink allergies are listed on permission slip. Chaperones use this information during the event. Food/drink that is served will be labeled with typical allergens, when possible. AMSA After Prom 2015 Page 3

4 Q. Can my non-amsa Prom date come to After-Prom? A. Yes. Non-AMSA guests are welcome to come as long as they have submitted a signed permission slip and paid the entrance fee of $25, by May 8, Non-AMSA guests may not arrive separately; they must come to After-Prom with AMSA student on bus. Q. What can we do there? A. Students will be provided with many fun activities, such as swimming, volleyball, rock climbing, movies, music, food, entertainment, prizes, and much more! Q. Will there be prizes? A. Yes! Many prizes will be raffled out throughout the evening, thanks to the generosity of parents and local businesses. Check out the palm tree poster in the Upper School cafeteria for updates on prizes that have been secured, thus far. If you want to donate a prize (teen items or gift cards), please drop off to Mrs. MacAdams in Upper School front office with a note that it is for After-Prom. Prizes are due 5/13/15. Q. How does check-in work? A. Upon arrival to the YMCA, students/non-amsa guests will be checked into the building by providing their names at the AMSA checkin desk. Chaperones will make sure students are on the list as registered attendees. Students will receive their bags at this time. [Bags are inspected at AMSA prior to students getting on the bus.] We reserve the right to inspect bags or lockers at anytime during the event. For students that are not attending Prom, and will be attending After-Prom, their bags will be checked during check-in. AMSA After Prom 2015 Page 4

5 Q. How does pick-up work? A. Pick up is at the Westborough YMCA, 4 Valente Drive, Westborough, MA 01581, at 5:00 am, Saturday 5/16/15. To make a smooth transition, chaperones will be outside facilitating pick-up procedures. Please text or call your student when you arrive so they can meet you outside, in front of the building. Q. What else do I need to know? A. All students/non-amsa guests must exhibit appropriate behavior at all times or they will be removed from the event and parent/guardian will be contacted to pick up student/guest. A. No alcohol, drugs, or smoking is permitted. A. Police detail will be on site the entire duration of the event. A. Bags will be inspected prior to arriving at YMCA. We reserve the right to inspect bags or lockers at anytime during the event. Q. How can parents help? A. Parental help is needed in every area, including decorations, set-up, clean-up, food serving and general chaperoning. If you know parents/guardians of freshman and sophomore students who would like to participate now, rather than when their child is attending After- Prom as a junior and senior, please let those parents/guardians know we need them. Visit Volunteer Spot to sign up. All volunteer chaperones must complete a CORI form by the end of April. CORI forms can be found on AMSA s home page. Go to the Parent drop down menu PTO Forms and Documents CORI form download. ( Print, complete, and bring CORI form to upper school front office. You will be asked to sign the form and present a photo ID. AMSA After Prom 2015 Page 5

6 Our hope is that the AMSA After-Prom will be an event AMSA students will not want to miss. Our goal is 100% participation. Please help make this another safe, sober, and spectacular weekend for our AMSA juniors and seniors, and their non-amsa guests, by supporting the AMSA After-Prom and helping to create a fun-filled celebration they will always remember.
