Campers should be rising juniors and seniors in high school. We will also accept exceptional rising sophomores. Applicants should have demonstrated high interest in personal leadership development and a strong work ethic. Applicants should possess an established background in student involvement and volunteerism. Applicants should expect a high degree of social interaction, team building, and personal reflection at the camp. Applicants need to commit to participation in the program for the entire residential period if selected, including opening and closing days. Am I required to stay at University Village for the camp? I am local, can I just sleep at home? Unless there is a documented medical condition or religious preference that would prevent a camper from staying in UV, all camp participants are required to reside in UV for the duration of the camp. Can my parents/family/friends visit me during the camp? There are no visitors permitted on campus during the camp. If, in the case of an emergency, a family member needs to connect with their child, we ask that a staff member assist in this process. Can I leave campus in my own personal vehicle during the camp? Due to liability purposes, we do not allow any personal vehicles on campus and ask that all campers be dropped off by a parent or guardian. What if I cannot pay my deposit or final payment on time? Please connect with the LEAD Camp Coordinators, either Lisa Sedlock or Brooke Durden to discuss financial arrangements.

I have been accepted to the camp, but can no longer attend. What should I do? Please connect with the LEAD Camp Coordinators, either Lisa Sedlock or Brooke Durden ASAP so that they can properly remove you from the camp roster and open your space to another applicant. I have paid my deposit/final payment, but can now no longer attend the camp. Can I receive my money back? Please connect with the LEAD Camp Coordinators, either Lisa Sedlock or Brooke Durden ASAP so that they can properly remove you from the camp roster and open your space to another applicant. We cannot refund deposits or final payments after July 1, I was waitlisted for the camp, and have now been accepted. Do I still need to pay the deposit by June 15? Please connect with the LEAD Camp Coordinators, either Lisa Sedlock or Brooke Durden to discuss payment arrangements for waitlisted students. In most cases, both the deposit and final payment are due by July 8 for waitlisted students that were accepted to the camp later than June 6. If a waitlisted student is accepted after June 6, please contact the Program Coordinators for further instructions on how to process payment for the camp. I received an with lots of registration forms what am I supposed to do with these and who do I turn them in to? The required registration forms are sent via to both parents and campers shortly after acceptance into the camp. Please read the instructions in the for completion of paperwork. Incomplete payments and forms not received by the due date will disqualify your child from the camp. Registration forms must be submitted June 30 th. Receiving the necessary information as soon as possible will help us facilitate the camper s enrollment. A full timeline and checklist of forms and payments are included in the attachments. All paperwork must be signed and submitted via to leadership@augusta.edu. PLEASE ATTACH ALL DOCUMENTS TO ONE DO NOT SEND MULTIPLE S. This will alleviate any of your forms getting misplaced. If you are unable to scan/send the documents, you may: (1) hand deliver them to The Jaguar Student Activities Center Office of Student Life & Engagement (SAC 127), 2500 Walton Way, Augusta, GA or (2) Regular mail them to Student Life and Engagement ATTN: Summer LEADership Camp at th Street, SAC-127, Augusta, GA If you are unable to access the forms or payment links, please leadership@augusta.edu. Can you tell me more about the housing arrangements? Will I have a roommate? During the camp, students will be housed at University Village. University Village is access protected with a gate and a guardhouse. Students are required to remain on site during the course of the camp and may not be checked out by themselves, parents or guardians. University Village apartments consist of two bedroom suites. Each bedroom contains bunk beds, for a total occupancy of 4 in each suite. Each suite has a fully equipped kitchen, two bathrooms, and a common living area. Students are assigned roommates/suite mates according to gender and age. Can I request a roommate? Yes! You may request a roommate or suitemates please include roommate requests on registration paperwork. Requests must be mutual. How do I make a payment? All payments are handled online through our marketplace payment center. We cannot accept checks or payments over the phone. Payment links are sent via to both parents and campers with registration forms. There are two icons for tuition payments. The first is for a $100 tuition deposit and is due by June 15. The second payment icon is for the remainder of the tuition, $275, and is due by July 8. (note for waitlisted students: deposit and final payment will be due on July 8 after final notification of status)

What is a typical day like? All students will participate in a variety of activities throughout the week. The Peer Mentors plan many events for the students and all are encouraged to participate. During the daytime hours, campers can expect to be in program sessions and active reflection activities. Evening activities for the week may include: movie night, campus tours, swimming, and scavenger hunts. Free time is also scheduled into the day and is dependent on group interests. All activities are subject to change depending on weather, group interests, or acts of third parties beyond our control. Example schedule of a typical day: Breakfast Transport to Site Morning Program Lunch Afternoon Program Dinner and Activities Evening Free Time 8:00 AM 8:30 AM 8:30 AM 9:00 AM 9:00 AM 12:00 PM 12:00 PM 1:00 PM 1:00 PM - 5:45 PM 6:00 PM 10:00 PM 9:00 pm 11:00 pm Can you tell me what will happen on check-in/check-out day? Check-in for students will take place on Sunday, July 17 th at 1 PM. Check in will be located at University Village located on the Forest Hills Campus, 6000 Jaguar Way, Augusta, GA Peer Mentors and professional staff will be on hand to make introductions, answer any questions, and assist campers with luggage and finding their rooms. Following check-in, there will be a brief student orientation at 2pm. All parents/guardians are encouraged to leave campus by 2pm so that we may appropriately begin our camp schedule on time. Parents are invited to attend the closing ceremonies and reception on Thursday, July 21 at 11:00 AM in the Jaguar Student Activities Center Coffeehouse. Check-out will take place on Thursday, July 21 at 12:30PM at the Jaguar Student Activities Center Coffeehouse. Tours of the Summerville Campus can be arranged for parents between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM. If you are interested in arranging a campus tour, please contact the Program Coordinators. What kind of staff will oversee the program? Students receive high amounts of small group interaction and personal attention from professional camp staff and AU student Peer Mentors. Camp staff will consist of one professional Program Coordinators, one Graduate Assistant Program Coordinators, and several professional staff will serve as facilitators and presenters. A professional staff member lives in University Village, as well as graduate level student professionals, and student Resident Assistant staff members. The AU student Peer Mentors will be the primary contact the students will have while at camp. Peer Mentors are current AU students that have been hired for their leadership and mentoring abilities. Peer Mentors will supervise students 24-hours per day, will be housed in the UV residence, and are dedicated to the program. Peer Mentors are assigned activity groups during the day and residence hall groups during the evening and nighttime. They are responsible for ensuring that students are aware of and comply with the expectations set before them. Peer Mentor to camper ratio is approximately 6:1. How will I be transported to/from facilities during the camp? The Summer LEADership Camp will take place at Augusta University on three different campus sites: Summerville Campus, the Health Sciences Campus, and the Forest Hills Campus. Transportation will be provided for students for every program and activity via University sponsored vans. Drivers will be professional staff members of the University. A more detailed map and directions for parent/guardian parking on check-in/out days will be ed by July 8.

What should I pack? The weather in Augusta is very warm in the summer. Daily temperatures range between degrees and the days are often humid. Nights can also be very humid with temperatures in the 70 s. Students should bring appropriate clothing for warm weather and possibly rain! Suggested packing list: Students need to bring their own: Pillow and blanket (sheets and towels will be provided) Clothing List (dress for the camp is very casual!) Comfortable shoes (tennis shoes) Comfortable clothes (Tee shirts, shorts, jeans, etc.) Sleeping clothes/pajamas Modest swimsuit and beach towel (full coverage please) Non-Clothing Items Sunscreen and lip gloss/lip balm Personal Toiletries Bug Spray/Lotion Notebook and pens/pencils for class Wallet/spending money Glasses/contact lenses (Be sure to bring contact solution too) Sunglasses Cell phone and charger Prescription medicine and absolutely necessary over the counter pills & supplies (Only bring medications and medical supplies approved on your medical form) Water Bottle Alarm clock Optional Items Camera small, inexpensive (Please do not bring expensive equipment) Earplugs (If you are a light sleeper) Workout clothes Playing cards Personal tablet/computer Personal fan for room (while rooms are air conditioned, you might want a fan) How will you handle insurance and health care during the camp? Each child must include their health insurance information as part of the registration process. Should there be a medical emergency which requires a visit to the emergency room or hospital, a parent or guardian will immediately be notified and this information will be used to establish care. Please note that any and all costs associated with this type of medical care for your child are expected to be paid by the parent and/or the parent s insurance. All students will also submit a Health Examination form. All OTC and prescription medications must be disclosed on this form. We do not have any medical staff assigned to our program, and any health related issues will be handled, as appropriate, by the camper themselves, program staff, or the nearest medical facility. If your child must take medications that cannot be self-administered, please contact the Program Coordinators. We ask that no students come to the camp ill or with any contagious condition. We reserve the right to send students home if they become ill,

develop any contagious condition (such as pink eye, or head lice,) or if they are unable to participate in the major activities of the camp. The camp is not responsible for eyeglasses or contacts that are lost or broken. Do you enforce appropriate behavior? Students are expected to comport themselves respectfully and responsibly. Students and parents/guardians are required to review the AU Student Code of Conduct (which outlines expected behavior standards) prior to arriving on campus. This can be found at Students must abide by the Student Code of Conduct at all times will attending the camp. Students who continue to display problem behavior will be dismissed from the program. There is a zero tolerance policy in terms of alcohol and/or illegal drug use by students. Augusta University reserves the right to dismiss a student from the camp at any time for any reason. Can I use my cell phone/tablet/laptop during the camp? The camp encourages students to develop autonomy, independence and a stronger sense of self. This allows them to make new friends, take responsibility for themselves and their roommates and problem solve. However, a young person s ability to focus on development of these important skills is often hindered by parents being only a phone call away. Students will often call or text parents for advice instead of turning to their peers or counselors. Use of electronic devices also creates isolation from peers at the program, instead of allowing the student to focus on all of the enriching activities and important peer connections a residential program experience offers. For these reasons, we will encourage students to first utilize camp staff to assist with any unforeseen circumstances. The camp does not take responsibility for their loss or damage, nor does our university insurance policy cover their replacement. Please note the following information: Cell Phones If a student needs to bring his or her cell phone to the program, we will ask that the student refrain from using it during all organized program activities unless required by the session/workshop. Students will be allowed to use a cell phone during appropriate times to take pictures, or during unstructured free time for checking in with parents, or for emergencies. Electronics Electronic devices of any kind (other than cameras) may be used only during unstructured free time, rest periods, and/or before bed. They may not leave the UV unless required in the course or approved by the Program Coordinatorss. Students will have access to internet. How can I contact the Program Coordinators? Lisa Sedlock, MAE Program Coordinator, Summer LEADership Camp (706) leadership@augusta.edu Brook Durden GA Program Coordinator, Summer LEADership Camp (706) leadership@augusta.edu After hours emergencies during the camp should be directed to the Housing & Residence Life Staff Duty phone at We are looking forward to hosting this interactive and informative summer experience for you. If you have any questions, please feel free to the Program Coordinators at leadership@augusta.edu.
