Without a full roster, however, member dues alone do not sustain our operations. How do we balance the needs of all members while allowing for increased revenue from non-member play? This is an issue that your Board of Directors has been addressing with several changes in policy in the past fiscal year; we ve accepted more outside tournaments, allowed limited access to prime tee times, changed booking windows, hired Players Assistants, and occasionally implemented variable green fee pricing. How have these changes impacted your satisfaction as a member? Do you have any ideas or feedback that you d like to share? We d like to invite all members to join us in a town hall meeting on Sunday September 11th to review how access to the course is managed and to provide ideas for optimizing the use of our facility. We will circulate an information package approximately one week prior to the meeting that will detail member, guest, and green fee player utilization of our course this summer, as well as provide a financial summary of tournament and event operations. These reports, along with the feedback and ideas discussed at the town meeting, will be used to guide decisions for the upcoming fiscal year. To allow feedback from all members, and to share questions and ideas prior to the town hall, we ve created an online form that can be accessed here: 3V2B We hope to see you on the 11th! Upcoming Dates to Remember: Ladies Member Guest August 5 Club Championships August 20 & 21 Punching Greens: August 22 & 23 Ironman Rescheduled: Please note that the Ironman scheduled for August 6 has been postponed until September. A date will be released at a later time. Golden Ears Men s Invitational: The Golden Ears Men s Invitational Tournament was another success! With 188 players overall, amateurs and professionals alike competed for a top spot in the tournament standings. Congrats to the top players and to all the members who joined in this great tournament for another year. Tournament standing can be viewed by at this link: golfleaguegenius.com/pages/ Golden Ears Bursary: Junior members of the and employees of a junior age (18 years and under), who have been accepted in a post secondary education program, are encouraged to apply. Application forms and information are available at the office. The closing date 2016 is August 31. Junior Summer Camps: Registration is still open for Junior Summer Camps. Call the Pro Shop to inquire or to book now: August Camp: August 8, 10 & 12: 9AM - 11:30AM daily Club Championships: Club Championships are coming up on August 20 & 21. Members are asked to book through the Pro Shop for the following categories: Men s Open, Men s Senior, Ladies Open, Ladies Senior Call the Pro Shop today: Gift Cards: Reload-able gift cards are now available for purchase in the main office. These cards can be purchased for any dollar amount and be redeemed in the Pro Shop, for golf and merchandise as well as for food and beverage in the restaurant or concession. Done with your card? Save it and re-load or return it to the office so the card can be recycled and re-used.

3 Club Roster: Members who would like a hard copy print out of the member contact list can now pick it up in the administration office. Online Banking for RBC Clients: Online banking for members using RBC is now availble. Payments can be made directly from your online banking account by setting PMGC up as a payee. Tombstone Recap: Another fine day of golf, good food and fun at the Tombstone Social. It was a good turnout and always a good time to meet up with friends. The souls that out-lived everyone were: Liz Webster & Steve Blanchard 1st place winners Maggie Blanchard & Bill Anderson 2nd place winners Audrey Katz & Andy Hoffer 3rd place winners. Early Bird prizes of Golf at Rivershore and Okanagan Clubs went to Marla Tyson and Howie Stevenson. Special Draw Prize for Golf at Sechelt went to Denny Taylor. Lynn Guest won the 50/50. Congratulations to everyone! Hope to see you all at the Couples Invitational on September 10th. Also, a reminder of the next Nine and Dine on August 19th. One-Club Tournament 2016: Register before August 10 to participate in the Early Bird draw AUGUST 28, Tee Times start at 12:30 PM This is a terrific fun MIXED event. Yep. Only one club, you even putt with it. Below are some tips but hey try a hole or two with any club before you decide what is best for you Name Plates for Lockers: If you would like a name plate for your locker, please contact Shelley in the office to arrange your order Consider using a 6 or 7 iron. You ll need some distance off the tee. 2. Bump and Run. Once you get your first or second shot within range of the green (less than a full shot with your club of choice) it s all about the bump and run. Go for open spaces instead of trying to get lucky over bunkers and rough. 3. Blade Your Putts. Use the bottom edge of the club to get the ball rolling smooth. 4. Practice putting, chipping over traps and sand shots before the big event date. To make this a little bit easier we plan to use forward tees. Women use red tees, men use green tees. Scoring will be Par Points so a bad hole doesn t hurt as much. If you shoot a 12 you just get 0 points on that hole. 5 Monthly History: The very first deuce Double Eagle scored on our 4th hole It was a nice sunny day at on August and I was playing with three members Ed Dodd, Wilf Meyers, and my Father Ed Marsden. I was a new member having joined in February the same year. We came to the thirteenth hole, which is now the fourth hole, and after I hit a rather longer than normal tee shot I was in position to go for the green on the par 5 hole. at that time the water ran right across the front of the green so any shot had to clear the water to get on the green. My Dad drove up in his three wheeled golf cart and asked if I was going to go for it?. I said of course. What club are you hitting? was the question. Four wood I replied. You ll never get there he said and followed that with hit the three wood. I said four wood was enough. No way! he retorted, hit the three wood. Very well, I said and proceeded to hit the three wood. It looked quite good and it cleared the water and headed up to the green. The group in front had just left and I watched as one member, Buddy Rodgers stopped and ran back towards the green. He ran up to the flag and started jumping up and down yelling back to us, it s in the hole, it s in the hole. My Dad turned and looked and me and said, I told you it was a three wood shot! When we finished our round I informed our pro Gordon Fairbairn of my Albatross he said it was the first one on that hole to his knowledge. Over the years playing a lot of golf with my Father, he reminded me many times that if it was not for his advice I would never had the Albatross. My Dad died on March the day after his 94th birthday and he never let me forget that day in August Cheers, Gerry Marsden.
