As the first FIS Nordic World Ski Championships ever, Falun2015 has been certified based on the international ISO standards for sustainable events. Therefore, climate accounts for the whole event will be set up, including making an electronic Media Guide for all the media representatives. This saves totally paper copies, an action with emphasis on sustainability. falun2015.com Media Guide 3

4 Accreditation All media representatives on site in all the venues of the Championships must be accredited with a photo ID-card. The accreditation is valid for the Lugnet venue and also down at Medal Plaza in the city center of Falun. There are several checkpoints where the access will be controlled, for instance in the mixed zones and in the Main Media Centre etc. The accreditation is also your ticket for the media shuttle buses. The Accreditation Centre is located within the Lugnet School, situated metres from the Main Media Centre. When picking up your accreditation card, please bring your press card and ID. The cards must be picked up in person. Lost or stolen accreditation card must be reported immediately to the Accreditation Centre. For opening hours, see the last page. Additional Credentials In some areas, supplementary access devices (e.g. armband, bibs or additional accreditation card) might be needed. All TV-cameras, microphones and other wireless equipment must have an accreditation sticker. These will be handed out by the Host Broadcaster in the IBC. Wireless equipment must additionally be approved of by the PTS, Post and Telestyrelsen, Swedish Telecommunications Authority. All these devices are only valid together with the accreditation card and must be worn clearly visible. 6 Accommodation During the Championships, our official media hotels are situated in the city of Borlänge. All of the media hotels are good quality hotels located close to the city center of Borlänge and the Borlänge Central Station. During the first week of Falun2015 you will find volunteers in the morning and in the afternoon at the media hotels answering your questions about the competition program, transportation, start-and result lists etc. During the second week you will be able to contact us by a telephone number you will find at the Falun2015 information table. 7 Transportation During the event, the LOC offers transportation between the media hotels in Borlänge, Medal Plaza in Falun and the Main Media Centre at the Lugnet Venue free of charge. Your accreditation is your ticket and the timetable for the buses can be found in this Media Guide but also in the MMC and at the hotels. During peak hours, the transportation time between Borlänge and Falun is approximately 40 minutes. From February 18 to March 1 these buses will run at least every quarter, in principle. The frequency will increase before and after each competition and is adjusted to the program of each day. Note! The routes marked with a * in the timetable passes busstop 2 instead of 1. Route 151 goes between the two cities on a daily basis, and stops not far from the MMC. Route information can be found at Taxi +46 (0) Parking LOC strongly recommend media representatives to use the shuttle service provided. This recommendation is based both on the environmental aspect, but also on the limited parking possibilities. The media parking is located right outside the Main Media Centre, and parking permits that have been approved are handed out in the Accreditation Office. There is also a media parking near the Medal Plaza in the city center of Falun. This parking has limited spaces and will be opened between 18:00 00:00 every evening during the competition period. Public Parking If the media parking outside the MMC is full, media representatives also have the opportunity to park at the public parking areas. SVT Host Broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT) is the Swedish public service television company with the widest range of programming of all TV-companies in Sweden. Today SVT operates eight channels seven national, SVT1, SVT, SVT24, SVTB (a children s channel) and together with UR, Kunskapskanalen, and one international, SVT World. SVT also operates two HD-channels: SVT1 HD and SVT2 HD. All SVT channels are digital only. All are distributed via all kinds of platforms. The SVT-programs can be viewed on svt.se via SVT Play for 30 days after the first broadcast. In late 1997, SVT started broadcasting via satellite to Swedes living in Europe outside Sweden. SVT World offers SVT productions in Swedish in real time to viewers all over the world. The corporate structure is a limited company owned by a foundation. It is financed by a compulsory license fee for possession of a TV-set. The license fee also finances public service radio (SR) and the Swedish Educational Broadcasting company (UR). 60 % of the revenues from license fee provides for SVT. In 2014 the fee is (approx. 220 Euro) a year. SVT programming is non-commercial. Advertising is not allowed but sponsoring of sports events is. The programming covers the whole genre spectre. In 2013 SVT1 is the biggest channel and also receives the highest ranking by the Swedish audience. 21 Main Media Centre We are proud and happy for our grand Main Media Centre within the Lugnet Sport Centre. During WSC more than 7000 square meters will be used for Main Press Centre (MPC), International Broadcast Centre (IBC) and TV-Compound (TVC) as well as our Media Lounge where we will be serving coffee, tea, fruit and chocolate. The press conferences will be held next to the Main Press Centre. Working spaces within the Main Press Centre can be booked. The MMC will be operational as from February 13, For opening hours, see the last page. Accredited media will have the possibility to use the gym, swimming pool and sauna free of charge, all in the same building as the MMC. Printouts are available at our start-and result service found in our Press Centre and in the mixed zones. Press conferences LOC Falun is glad to invite you to our official press conference. After each competition, press conferences will be held with the athletes February 18 at 11:00 next to the Main Press Centre. All press conferences will be held in English, streamed and published on our website Sub Press Centre Medal Plaza Our Sub Press Centre will be located next to Medal Plaza in the city center of Falun, where all the Medal Award Ceremonies will be held. The Sub Press Centre is smaller in size and will only be open during the evenings. There will be free access to Wi-Fi and we will be serving coffee, tea, fruit and chocolate. 23 Photo Photo Briefing Accreditation Access On Tuesday 17 February at 18:00 there will be a briefing for accredited photographers in our Press Centre. This meeting contain detailed information about the photo positions and the volunteers that will be at your service during the Championships. If you cannot participate at the photo briefing, please contact our Photo Co-ordinator for more information. The photo accreditation allows only still pictures, and nor rights to record live pictures. According to the FIS rules, photographers that have access to special areas have to wear FIS photo armbands. These armbands will only be handed out at the photo briefing held by our Photo Coordinator. Press Centre There will be dedicated working spaces for photographers in our Press Centre (some of them with roof). If needed, lockers can be rented in our start-and result service payable in cash only (100 SEK). Nikon and Canon will be at your service with check and clean and lending of backup equipment during the whole Championships within our Press Centre. PHOTO A 1 Venue Photo Centre Contact Besides having access to the Press Centre, accredited photographers that have booked HSIA may also use the Venue Photo Centre s next to the mixed zones. Underneath our Venue Photo Centre CC, there is also an outdoor area for photographers with restricted amount of working spaces. This area is non-heated but equipped with roof and electricity. This area follows the first come first serve principle. One photo stand will be placed at the finish area at the Cross-Country venue, and one photo area will be available at the Ski Jumping venue. There will also be a photo area for long shots down at Medal Plaza. Medal Plaza All Medal Ceremonies will take place in the evenings at the City Square in downtown Falun. A specific zone for photographers and ENG is placed in front of the stage and a camera platform for long shots will also be offered. 26 Ceremonies Winner presentations The winner presentations will take place after each competition at the Ski Jumping venue and Cross-Country venue. At the Ski Jumping venue the podium will be located in the centre of the outrun and at the Cross-Country venue it will be placed in the Finish area. The Medal Ceremonies will always start except from March 1st. Before each ceremony, live concerts will start at The Festival Every evening after the Medal Award Ceremonies, concerts will be arranged at our big stage on Medal Plaza. Our special Food Market will serve typical Swedish specialties and the entire city will be filled with public activities attracting thousands of people every night. During Falun2015, an Ice sculpture exhibition will be arranged down in the city center of Falun, close to the stream that runs through the city. The sculptures are created by famous artists from Dalarna. Environment As the first FIS Nordic World Ski Championships ever, Falun2015 has been certified based on the international ISO standard for sustainable events. One of the event s areas of focus is emphasis on sustainability while respecting environmental, social and economic concerns. By coordinating local suppliers we will be able to offer both visitors and locals the very best of local produce. The long-term aim is to develop Dalarna as a food region and make it better known among visitors. Taste of Dalarna will be harnessing these joint strengths to bring together local food producers and restaurants in providing the finest Dalarna has to offer during the 2015 World Championships. Culture of Dalarna Culture of Dalarna will contribute in giving our Swedish and foreign guests great experiences connected to the cultural range in the festival program. Exhibitions, experiences, folk music, art and so on will be shown up during the competition period. Knowledge of Dalarna Knowledge Knowledge of Dalarna is a way for schools in the municipality to take advantage of the opportunities that an event of this size brings. It is about finding and testing new ways to work with enhancing knowledge and to contribute to developing education in the long term.
