3 WELCOME Ruka Ski Stadium will gather all three Nordic Ski disciplines to the same stadium for the 13th time at 28th to 30th November. During one long weekend eight World Cup events will be arranged in Cross Country, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined. Ruka Nordic has updated itʼs name and image. New venues as Test Center in the Ruka Village has built for the teams and spectators. Ruka Nordic is also the World Cup start for the Cross Country skiers and Nordic Combined athletes. One the new events is the Opening Ceremony with ahtletes presentation and bib distribution at Ruka Village stage on Friday. Ruka is in the border of Lapland and will therefore share the Lappish atmosphere with its unique nature and its icons reindeer and Santa Claus. 7 MEDIA SERVICES MEDIA SERVICES For laptop 50 stationary LAN connections Wireless LAN (WLAN) Note: Up-to-date antivirus software must be installed in media representativesʼ laptops. The Media Center provides a landline phone, a fax, and three televisions and two video screens at the Media Center for following the competitions broadcasted by the YLE Finland. There are no result monitors at the Media Center. Commentating is forbidden outside the Commentary Booths located in the race area. Connecting your laptop to LAN and Internet: a network adapter (RJ-45) is required DHCP-settings is required for Internet connection a shared network printer must be switched to \\mediaserver\medialaser (username: ruka, password: ruka). Drivers and installing instructions available at the ICT Help Desk of the Media Center Note: No ISDN connection available. SOMETHING NEW! In Need of a Northern Style Location for Filming? 8 MEDIA INFORMATION Media Lounge / Sub Media Center The Media Lounge is located on the second floor of the Stadium building in the race area, offering indoor premises for following the competitions via TV. There are also printed results and coffee available at the Media Lounge. Safety Lockers There are safety lockers for temporary storage at the Media Center. Please contact media secretaries on the matter. Media Café Coffee and sandwiches are served free of charge at the Media Center and Sub Media Center during its opening hours. Parking Media parking area is in front of the Media Center. Parking permits are delivered from the Media Info at the Media Center according to online reservations (accreditation form). Please note that there is only a limited amount of media parking permits available. Transportation NOTE: See the SkiBus schedule in this guide There is shuttle transportation between the Kuusamo city center, the media Hotel Holiday Club Tropiikki and the Media Center approximately every one hour (see SkiBus schedule at - Transportation & Accommodation - Buses). Media representatives can use the shuttle transportation for free by showing their ID-cards. Commentary Booths Commentary booths with results monitors and ADSL-lines are reserved for the companies with the live publishing rights. 9 ACCREDITATION ACCREDITATION All media representatives must be accredited with a photo ID-card. The Accreditation Office is located in the lobby of Hotel Rantasipi Rukahovi (address: Rukankyläntie 15, Rukatunturi). TV and Media Rightsholder Infront Sports and Media has published a priority list of television and radio companies having an own Eng box on the mixed zone. Entering the Eng mixed zone the accreditation for the area and a camerasticker delivered in the accreditation office is required. 10 PHOTOGRAPHERS PHOTOGRAPHERS Photo Areas Areas for photographers are signed with number 10 (see the map attached). In general, photographers are allowed to walk beside the ski tracks while taking photos. However, THE SKI TRACKS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BE CROSSED. Photographers must also choose their shooting locations carefully so that they do not disturb the TV cameras on site. Extra permissions for photographing in other areas can be given by Chief of Media Soili Hirvonen. During the race Mr. Teemu Moisio will be as a photo coordinator, teemu.moisio@levi.fi, tel Photographers coordination meeting will be held at Media Center on Thursday 27th Nov at 4 pm. Photo bibs are given out after the meeting. According to FIS rules, photographers must have FIS photo bibs to be allowed to take photos in the race areas. FIS Photo bibs are delivered from the Media Centerʼs Media Info against a deposit of 20 EUR (cash only). NIKON NPS Service Nikon is at your service during the Ruka Nordic. You will find our NPS (Nikon Professional Services) stand at the Media Center. We can make small repairs and loan lenses, main bodies and flashes for your test and use. 11 GENERAL INFORMATION Result Service for Media Results, news, start lists, and other official information will be published on the eventʼs website at Results&Startlists. Prints are available at the Media Center. SMS Service FIS Cross-Country provides an own SMS Service for the Media with necessary information like if a favourite athlete is starting due to illness etc. If you or any media representative from you World Cup event would be added you can add yourself by the following procedure. To register for FIS SMS Service please send a registration SMS START CC-M to the number Award Ceremonies Award ceremonies will take place immediately after every competition. Photographers are allowed to go behind the broadcaster YLEʼs camera positions in the Ski Jumpingʼs landing area before the ceremonies starts (security personnel will assist). Press Conferences On Friday 28th of November the season 2013/14 best athletes in CC and in NC will be presented in Ruka Village Test Center stage at 5 pm. CC skiers are available for the interviews at 4.30 pm in the Hotel Rukahovi bar Ski Pub. NC athletes are available for the interviews at 5:30 pm in the Hotel Rukahovi Ski Pub. Please inform the NC FIS Media Coordinator Silke Tegethof beforehand for your interests. You will find the latest info about Press Conferences at News & Media Press Conferences. Winnersʼ interviews will be held 20 minutes after every Award Ceremony. In Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined interviews take place at the main Media Center, and in Cross Country at the Sub Media Center (2nd floor of the Stadium building). The top three athletes of each competition will be invited to the press conference. In charge of the winnersʼ interviews are Chief of Media Soili Hirvonen and FIS Media Coordinators.
