50 02 Event Concept and Schedule 02 Modern, authentic and powerful image 02.1 KEY REASONS FOR WILLING TO HOST WORLD ROLLER GAMES 2017 Barcelona is a city which has already become one of the main references for sports all over the world and it is a tourist destination for those interested in major sporting events. And the Roller Games iths perfectly to its international positioning strategy. The global dimension of the Roller Games, its youthful, friendly proile and global presence - all respond to the city s expectations in this ield. The Catalan Federation of Roller Sports has the experience, a consolidated dimension and a wide base of members and associates that will contribute to the success of the event in Barcelona. Hosting the Roller Games will imply for the city of Barcelona: Associating its image to a completely new event that will be amongst the top international events, with modern, contemporary values. Taking advantage of difusion of Roller Games 2017 around the world to broadcast the image of the city and strengthen Barcelona s brand in the international arena. Strengthening its position as a venue for major international sporting events. Ofering its inhabitants and visitors a unique world event BARCELONA, HOST OF THE WORLD ROLLER GAMES 2017 Vision of Roller Games in Barcelona The Roller Games will become the world s most important Roller Sports event, with a modern, authentic and powerful image. Mediterranean passion and avant-garde urban culture set in a city that will be transformed into a sports playground will provide inspiration to Roller Games athletes and Roller Sports fans. Barcelona s international reach as a tourist attraction will be used to share this vision worldwide. The main priority in our vision are the athletes. With the Olympic Ring on Montjuic and the Forum cluster, we will provide the athletes with the best stage in the city so that they can perform to the best of their abilities. In cooperation with FIRS ield-of-play preparations and athlete services will be held to ensure that athletes can focus on the competition without any distractions. Furthermore, the Roller Games Barcelona will be transformed into a festival, engaging citizens and fans of Roller Sports and the Roller Games from all over the world, coming to give support to the athletes during the event. This means that the Roller Games will be integrated into the cultural and lifestyle program of Barcelona. A program that has found contemporary and widely acknowledged expressions in the arts, design, music and architecture, based on a long tradition of independent creativity in Barcelona. of roller culture. Cinema, arts, concerts On the occasion of the celebration in the city of the Roller Games, we ll cooperate with the Barcelona National Film and Sound Archive to screen a series of famous ilms related to Roller Sports. Furthermore, the organizing committee will cooperate with local music festival programmers to create a music event with famous artists. It will also cooperate with local artists and selected museums to approach the event from a cultural and creative perspective. Sports The Roller Games will be the opportunity to enhance the practice of Roller Sports in the city and to do so the Organizing committee will arrange a series of initiatives aimed to this purpose. A popular marathon open to all categories and levels, The Roller Open School, organized in the city centre or an International Development program for emerging countries are some of the activities that the LOC will develop in the city during the celebration of the Roller Games Barcelona. OPENING CEREMONY ARTISTIC ROLLER MARATHON INLINE HOCKEY Furthermore, the city of Barcelona undertakes to contribute to the future growth and consolidation of the Roller Games. Thus, the LOC will create the WRG Knowledge Management Programme, gathering all relevant information to transfer knowledge to future LOCs DATES PROPOSAL The dates proposed to celebrate Roller Games in Barcelona are from the 25th of June to 9th of July 2017 due to the next reasoning: a) There is no any important event planned to be realized in Barcelona during these dates b) It s a nice period for the hotel industry (availability and reserving of rooms) c) The school year is already completed d) Excellent climate: long-lasting daylight, moderate temperature, low humidity, the rains are practically absent, etc. In continuation you will ind the proposed competition Schedule: A unique setting for the Roller Games FRI SAT SUN MON TUE WED THU FRI SAT SUN MON TUE WED THU FRI SAT SUN Obtaining a direct and indirect local economic impact through increased tourism (accommodation, food and beverage, entertainment and shopping, etc), hiring local suppliers and services to organize the event and a multiple number of other efects directly attributable to the organization of the Roller Games in the city. This vision is a starting point and will be further developed and detailed in cooperation with FIRS in order to align itself with the goals of the event. City activities The Roller Games is an event that will have not only an impact on TV, but also in the city s sports and cultural life.
