2 System information Introduction In the last decade the worldwide requirements for computer communication and telecommunication applications have increased substantially. This has lead to significant investments in the construction of computer rooms and telecommunication switching facilities. To ensure proper operation of the computer and telecommunications equipment, the high sensible heat loads given off have to be cooled. Carrier Holland Heating, a company of the worldwide Carrier Corporation, has redesigned its long established Computair down flow cooling units to reflect the current requirements of this evolving market. The down flow unit is designed to operate on raised floor operation rooms and uses a higher than normal chilled water temperature to avoid dehumidification. Complete with its own integrated controls, the Computair unit is easily installed on raised operation room floors and offsets the heating load with low primary energy input. 7 Product information Sizes and Dimensions The Carrier Holland Heating Computair range of chilled water Computer and Telecommunication Room cooling units consists of four standard sizes with nominal cooling capacities from to kw. Larger cooling capacities can easily be achieved by means of a master-slave configuration of two or more units. The narrow dimensions of the Carrier Holland Heating Computair unit make it possible to manoeuvre the units through standard normal size doors in existing buildings. The optional floor stand is adjustable in height from 0 to 600 mm and simplifies installation on raised operation room floors. Construction The construction of the Carrier Holland Heating Computair unit uses the proven Carrier Holland Heating galvanised steel decapost framework onto which mm thick double-skin panels are mounted. These double-skin panels are manufactured from 1.0 mm galvanised steel inner and outer skins enclosing mineral wool insulation density kg/m3. Maintenance Full height doors on the front of the unit guarantee excellent access to all internal components. The control panel is located in a cabinet, which is integrated into the left-hand unit door. This enables access for inspection via a separate hatch, without the need for shutting down the Computair unit. Intelligent Control System The control system of the Carrier Holland Heating Computair unit is build around a powerful microprocessor. The actual room temperature is measured with a sensor in the air intake section. The digital controller continually compares the measured return air temperature with it's setpoint, modulating the 2-way chilled water valve as necessary, to maintain the required room temperature. In case of a master-slave configuration, only the master-unit is equipped with a temperature sensor and a digital controller. The actuator on the 2-way valve of the slave-unit receives it s control signal from the controller in the master-unit. Although the temperature sensor and digital controller are not present in a slaveunit, all other provisions and protections are still incorporated. The digital controller is also equipped with a data communication bus type N2, allowing remote communication according to a standard protocol, with all setpoint and reading possibilities offered by this powerful system. In case of unforeseen controller failure, the modulating 2-way valve opens fully in order to continue to provide cooling to the space, thus preventing any sensitive computer and telecommunication equipment from high temperatures. If low radiated noise levels into the room are a particular requirement, the Carrier Holland Heating Computair units can also be delivered with suctionside attenuators available in two standard lengths. Standard Features As standard the stand-alone master-unit from the Carrier Holland Heating Computair unit is provided with the following features: - Exterior casework painted in the standard Carrier Holland Heating colour "Mint Green" - 0V 3ph / 50 Hz power connection, in combination with three phase fan motors - Mains isolator, to isolate the entire unit - Thermal overload relays - Differential pressure gauge to show condition of filters - Internal unit failure indicator (red); lights in case of internal unit failure - General breakdown indicator (blue); lights in case of external breakdown command - Output terminals for: - running indication - thermal motor contacts - general unit failure indication - water carry over detection - control signal towards one or more slave-units.
