1 SECTION HEATING, VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 DESCRIPTION A. The Work specified in this Section consists of designing, furnishing and installing factory-assembled unitary air conditioning and electric heating equipment. 1.2 QUALITY CONTROL A. Comply with Section , Project Quality Program Requirements Design/Build. B. Design, construct and rate air conditioning equipment in accordance with ARI Standards 210/240 and 310/380. All HVAC equipment shall be Industrial Grade. 1.3 REFERENCE STANDARDS A. Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) ANSI/AHRI 210/240 Performance Rating of Unitary Air-Conditioning Equipment and Air-source Unitary Heat Pump Equipment AHRI 310/380 AHRI 340/360 Standard for Packaged Terminal Air-Conditioners and Heat Pumps (CSA-C744-04) Performance Rating of Commercial and Industrial Unitary Air- Conditioning and Heat Pump Equipment B. American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE) ANSI/ASHRAE 51 ASHRAE 52.2 Laboratory Methods of Testing Fans for Certified Aerodynamic Performance Rating (ANSI/AMCA 210) Method of Testing General Ventilation, Air Cleaning Devices for Removal Efficiency by Particle Size C. Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) UL 1025 Electric Air Heaters 1.4 SUBMITTALS A. Refer to Section , Submittal Procedures. A.B. Provide Drawings and Manufacturer's Data B.C. Manufacturer's printed operation and maintenance instructions, as specified in Section , Operation and Maintenance Data, in bound form, describing operating procedures and maintenance sequences. Include manufacturer's recommended spare parts list in maintenance instructions. C.D. D.E. E.F. F.G. Manufacturer's product data. Test procedures prior to any testing. Test Reports Seismic restraint details and locations. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 PACKAGED TERMINAL OR UNITARY HEAT PUMP Provide UL listed and AHRI certified all-electric air-cooled packaged heat pump rated in accordance with AHRI 210/240 or AHRI 310/380 for not less than the cooling and heating capacities indicated. Unit may be integrated or sectional type. Provide factoryassembled cooling and heating unit with compressor, evaporator coil, condenser coil, evaporator fan and motor, condenser fan and motor, filter housing, filter media, controls, wiring, power cord with plug, piping, and refrigerant. Provide sub-base, wall sleeve, hardware, corrosion protection, noise and vibration reduction materials, condensate removal devices and piping, trim strips, defrosting, sealants, and accessories as may be needed for installation and/or operation. A. Controls adjustable from Staff/Security Room - Off/Fan Only/Cooling/Heating switch, programmable thermostat
3 B. Capable of providing operation in 35 o F outside air temperature for heating and 55 o F outside air temperature for cooling conditions. C. Filter - One-piece disposable type with fiberglass or equivalent media with MERV 8 efficiency. Provide two replacement filters packaged (and marked) to resist damage during storage and handling. D. Enclosure shall be lined with insulation equivalent to ½ neoprene coated fiberglass. E. Architectural grille, if required - Fixed grille as specified in Section , Air Distribution and Duct System. F. Resistance Electric heater - Do not use as primary heat source for the room. Provide if needed, or heat pump manufacturer recommends it for defrost, condensate removal, or to supplement the heat pump. Capacity and type as recommended by heat pump manufacturer. Include high temperature safety shut-off control as well as circuit protection. 2.2 SPLIT SYSTEM AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT SERVING TCC ROOM System consisting of evaporator-blower-compressor unit and attached air cooled condenser unit. Design separate assemblies to be used together, and base ratings on the use of the matched assemblies Provide units complete with filters, control dampers (if required), base, factory installed internal insulation, external and internal wiring and piping as required for complete system to interface points as indicated in Contract Documents. Evaporator-blower-compressor unit and air-cooled-condenser unit manufactured by same manufacturer and fully compatible with each other and the control system. A. Evaporator-Blower-Compressor Unit - Provide hermetic, factory assembled evaporator-blower-compressor unit of vertical type with centrifugal blower, compressors, direct expansion coil, piping, filter drier, drip pan, and accessories. Contractor shall extend piping to drainage system with air gap fitting. 1. Controls a. Factory prewired control panel - NEMA 1 construction, containing controls and mounted in casing, with controls accessible through panel door. Modify controls as required to be compatible with Control scheme as indicated. Controls - Contactor for compressor and fan motor, internal overload protection, high and low pressure cutouts, oil pressure switch, compressor lockout protection, controller crankcase heater relay, low ambient control, refrigerant solenoid valve interlock, condenser fan interlock, and other devices as indicatedrequired. b. Terminate interlocking control and thermostat wiring at a terminal board, and as indicated. Design terminal board to match for standard point-to-point connections. 2. Mixing Box Section - Airtight, factory or shop fabricated casing with hinged
4 access doors where required to access dampers. Mixing box to mix return air and outdoor air before entering evaporator-blower-compressor unit. 3. Filter section - As specified in Section , Air Handling Apparatus - HVAC, for outdoor air and return air only before entering mixing box. B. Air Cooled Condenser Unit Provide factory fabricated, equipped with vibration isolation hangers or floor mounts, motor, starter, low ambient control and accessories, condenser coil, receiver, piping, valves, flexible connectors and V-belt drives. C. Low Ambient Control: Head pressure and low ambient control shall be of modulating type. On/Off control will not be accaepted. 2.3 ELECTRIC CEILING MOUNTED HEATER A. Provide self-contained, factory assembled unit consisting of heating elements, protective casings with outlet grille, fan, protective devices in accordance with UL B. Provide 18 gauge minimum steel cabinet with removable front not less than 16 gauge and back not less than 18 gauge. C. Provide automatic reset thermal overheat protection. D. Provide ceiling heater with factory-installed safety disconnect switch or circuit breaker. E. Provide ceiling heater with wall adjustable thermostat. 2.4 SEISMIC RESTRAINTS As specified in Section , Basic Mechanical Requirements. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION Install equipment and components as recommended by manufacturer's printed installation instructions. A. Start-Up Service 1. Provide the services of a manufacturer's technical representative to inspect installation and connections and provide initial startup service, including complete check of system to ensure proper operation. 2. The Contractor shall provide training services for Owner s personnel before but not later than one month before Final Approval and acceptance
5 by Metro.. The Contractor shall submit at least two weeks (14 days) prior to the schedule date for the first day of the instruction training session, a complete training syllabus outlining topics to be covered, timeframes, and training location for said topics and materials to be furnished as part of the training sessions. The training sessions shall be devoted to the theory of operation, maintenance and trouble shooting of the equipment, electrical control, and power distribution systems. 3. Each session shall be capable of training no more than 25 people at the Maintenance Facility. The Contractor shall furnish all necessary instruction sheets, student training aids, paper, and booklets to supplement training The representative shall also provide onsite instruction, up to 8 hours, to the Authorities maintenance personnel on recommended vendor maintenance and operating procedures, before but not later than one month before Final Approval and acceptance by METRO. This is in addition to furnishing of Operation and Maintenance manuals as specified in Section , Operations and Maintenance Data and any specified test support required by the Contract. B. Mounting - Install suspended units independently from building structure using vibration isolators. Units shall be at a height to be accessible for maintenance using an eight foot ladder. A service platform and access ladder shall be provided for equipment installed 11ft or more above the finished floor. 3.2 SEISMIC RESTRAINTS As specified in Section , Basic Mechanical Requirements. 3.3 PAINTING As specified in Section , Painting. 3.4 TESTING A. Test each system under technical guidance furnished by supplier. Do not begin testing before review and approved by METRO and review by of testing procedures METRO. Testing as specified in Section , Testing, Adjusting and Balancing. B. Equipment - Operational, and perform indicated HVAC functions. C. Control Components - Operational, and performance is in accordance with drawings and data. 3.5 CONTROLS Control Cabinets and Panels (TCP, ACCP) - Provide control cabinets and panels with mounting brackets adequate to house control devices. Satisfy UL 50. Control panels shall be as specified in Section , Control Stations, Control Panels and Interface Cabinets and Section , Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Remote Terminal Unit (SCADA RTU)
