2 FINE ARTS All classes are limited to California residents unless otherwise specified in an individual division or class. OVERALL BEST OF SHOW Best of Show Rosette & $150 Award Reserve Best of Show Rosette & $50 Award Donald Scheper Creativity Award Rosette & $50 Award 1. All Local and State rules are applicable. 2. There are NO limits on the number of items an exhibitor may enter per class. 3. No exhibitor shall receive more than two cash awards in any one class using the American judging system. 4. Please indicate the title (if any) on your entry form. 5. All work entered will be judged by a qualified artist. 6. Judges reserve the right to reclassify entries prior to judging. 7. All work must be entirely original. Suspected copies will not be accepted. No kits, class projects or commercial molds. Original prints must be hand pulled, no off set or photocopies. No refunds will be given on articles not accepted. 8. Announcement of award winners will be made on opening day of the Fair. No information will be given out before opening day of the Fair. 9. As many honorable mention ribbons will be awarded as the judge considers warranted by the quality of the entries. 10. Maximum size of paintings 6 feet wide and 7 feet high. 11. Maximum sculpture floor size 36 sq. feet. No height requirement. 12. Artist must agree to move and position all works weighing more than 75 pounds 13. ALL WORK MUST BE PROPERLY FRAMED. Mats only are unacceptable. No glass or plastic clips in lieu of framing accepted. 14. All work must be prepared and ready for hanging with screw eyes and strong wire. Wire for hanging the picture should be 1/4 of the total height down from the top. 15. No wet work will be accepted. 16. LABEL YOUR ART WORK BEFORE YOU DELIVER IT. No work will be accepted without a label that indicates: the title, name, address, phone number, the division number, and the class number in which painting is entered. Fasten the label to the back of your frame or canvas. Sculptures and mobiles must be labeled on the bottom of each exhibit. 17. All accepted work will be released from the Art Exhibit building (County Building) on Monday, August 1, between noon and 7 pm. Articles not claimed will be disposed of by the Fair after 30 days. 18. Greatest care will be taken in handling the exhibits; however, no responsibility for loss or damage of any kind can be assumed by the Art Department, the Solano County Fair Association, the County of Solano or its agents. Any insurance desired on entries must be carried by the artist. 19. All ceramic and/or supports must be constructed by the exhibiting artist. All work must be ready for displaying or hanging. 20. Entrance of works in the exhibition shall constitute acceptance of all rules. Prints may be of any photographic medium with the exception of hand coloring and must have been taken within one year proceeding the Fair. 2. All work will be shown unless space does not permit, in which case the judges will eliminate the less meritorious work. 3. Greatest care will be taken in handling the exhibits, but no responsibility for loss or damage of any kind can be assumed by the Photography Department, the Solano County Fair Association, the County of Solano or its Agents. Do not mail your entries. 4. ALL WORK MUST BE PROPERLY FRAMED and ready for hanging with screw eyes and heavy wire. 5. Please indicate the title on your entry form. 6. No work will be accepted without a label with name, address, class number and title (if any) on back of picture. 7. No picture or print of identical subject matter may be entered in more than one class. 8. Judges reserve the right to reclassify entries prior to judging. Indicate the title on your entry form. 2. Do not mail your poem. 3. Poems with foul language or are not suitable for family viewing will not be considered for judging. 4. All poems entered must be original work, written in English. 5. Judges reserve the right to reclassify entries prior to judging. Format 6. Submit a typed copy of each poem on letter (8 ½ x 11) paper. Do not submit the original. 7. Poem must be 32 lines or less. Any style, form or subject accepted. 8. Title, for judging purposes. 9. Author's name must not appear on the poem. Author's name, address, and phone number must appear on the back of poem. Display 10. All poems must be framed for hanging. 11. Poems will be available for viewing/reading at the Fair. Releases 12. Authors retain all rights; however, in submitting poems for judging, they agree that poems may be displayed and used for publicity purposes as Fair management sees fit. 13. 5 HOW TO ENTER EARLY ENTRY INCENTIVE Exhibitors who submit entry forms by June 1, 2016 will receive two complimentary passes to attend the 2016 Solano County Fair. MAILING ENTRY FORMS & FEES You may mail in your forms with the fees as soon as you have completed them. Livestock exhibitors are recommended to mail entries certified to ensure delivery. Mailed forms must be postmarked on or before July 1. No metered mail postmark will be accepted in lieu of the official postmark from the US Postal Service. Deadline Exceptions: Some classes of Floriculture and Any Other one day shows may have a different deadline than July 1. Check for specific deadlines and information in your entry department. Mail entry forms and payments to: Solano County Fair Entries Dept. 900 Fairgrounds Drive Vallejo, CA Hand submit your forms and fees by 4:00 pm on July 1 at the Entry Office located at the Fairgrounds Administration Building. EXTRA GUIDEBOOKS Additional guidebooks, brochures and entry forms are available at the Entry Office, on line at branch libraries and Senior Centers. HELPFUL TIPS Read the rules of the department and division that you are entering. Read Local and State Rules. For information or questions about filling out entry forms call: Check Schedules for entry delivery dates. Use additional forms if you have more entries per division and exceed the space on the form. Entry forms may be photocopied. At the beginning of each department is a listing of eligibility requirements, registration deadlines, delivery and pick up info. FILLING OUT YOUR ENTRY FORM Include your name, mailing address, and phone number along with other personal information. Youth exhibitors must indicate age, birth date, school, club/chapter, and the instructor s phone number. Indicate the division and class number. Write in a brief description of each entry. If there is an entry fee, write the amount in the "Entry Fee" column. Be sure to include all entry fees. Ensure that you have all appropriate signatures on your entry forms. Junior competitors must also submit a youth exhibitor agreement form. OR Submit your entries the easy way online at SCFair.com. Complete most entry forms and pay most fees online. Sorry, some of the specialty forms still have to be submitted the old fashioned way on paper. These forms include the Youth Presentation Entry Form, Recipe Form Adult Baked Foods, Horse Show Entry Form, Dog Show Entry Form, RV Trailer Application for Livestock Exhibitors, and the Community Stage Entertainment and Bay Stage Competitions Registration and Authorizations Forms.
