2 Need A Ride? there are a wide variety of transportation options available in Eau Claire County. Ride the bus! The City of Eau Claire operates a fixed route bus system, utilizing a fleet of 22 lowfloored, ramp equipped buses. The majority of the neighborhood routes operate on an hourly frequency with the more heavily traveled routes providing 30 minute service. City of Eau Claire Transit offers reduced fare bus passes for people age 65 and older and people with disabilities. Seniors (65 or older) must show proof of age or a Medicare Card to receive half fare. Disabled passengers must show a Medicare Card or Reduced Fare Card to receive half fare. Cash Tokens/Tickets Regular Fare $1.50 8/$10 Elderly/Disabled reduced fare $ /$10 Monthly Pass unlimited rides $45 Elderly/Disabled reduced pass $23 All fares are non refundable. Exact fare required, drivers do not carry change. Passes, tokens and tickets may be purchased from the transit drivers or at the Eau Claire Transit office: Central Maintenance Facility, 910 Forest Street, Eau Claire WI For Reduced Fare Card, contact Eau Claire Transit at home or (715) , tty: use Relay (711). If you are not able to use the city bus system or live outside the cites of Eau Claire or Altoona, you may qualify for the paratransit or specialized transportation programs If you are not able to use the city bus system or live outside the cities of Eau Claire and Altoona, you may qualify for the paratransit specialized transportation program. The City of Eau Claire, in partnership with Eau Claire County, provides specialized transportation services through a contract with Abby Vans, Inc. In addition, the Center for Independent Living for Western Wisconsin, Inc. (CILWW) and Triniteam Caregivers offer volunteer driver transportation programs in Eau Claire County.
3 There are also a number of private van services, taxis and specialized medical transport vehicles. For a full listing, see Transportation Services and Taxicabs in the yellow pages of your phone book. If you have questions about transportation options or need assistance with paying for transportation, please contact the Aging & Disability Resource Center at , , tty: use Relay (711), adrc@co.eau claire.wi.us. Paratransit Transportation Program The City of Eau Claire and Eau Claire County contract with Abby Vans, Inc., to provide this program. The program is for people whose disabilities prevent them from using the city bus system and for adults with disabilities and people age 60+ who live in the rural areas of the county and do not have access to any transportation service. Rides can be provided for medical, employment, shopping, social and personal business purposes. Interested individuals must complete an application for Paratransit Certification, application available at: Eau Claire Transit or , tty: use Relay (711). Aging & Disability Resource Center of Eau Claire County adrc@co.eau claire.wi.us or , , tty: use Relay (711) Center for Independent Living of Western Wisconsin, Inc., Abby Vans, Inc. provides paratransit transportation service in Eau Claire County. Paratransit service hours: 6:00 am 10:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. Once you have completed and returned the application to Eau Claire Transit, it takes 21 days for the application to be reviewed and either approved or denied. If your application is denied, you will be provided with an appeals process. If your application is approved, you will be notified and you can start contacting Abby Vans, Inc., directly to request services. You need to call Abby Vans, Inc., at least 24 hours in advance to schedule rides. Rider co payment is $3.00 per one way trip. Federal, state and local funding pay part of this cost for you. Full cost is actually $17.90 to $20.90 per one way trip. Specialized Transportation Program The Aging & Disability Resource Center of Eau Claire County also contracts with Abby Vans, Inc., to provide the Specialized Transportation program for adults with disabilities and people age 60+ who do no have access to any transportation service on Sunday (Specialized Transportation service hours are 7:00 am to 2:00 pm on Sunday) and for trips to locations outside of Eau Claire County. Rides can be provided for medical, employment, shopping, social, and personal business purposes. Interested individuals must complete an Application for Specialized Transportation.
4 The Application for Specialized Transportation available at: Aging & Disability Resource Center of Eau Claire County, claire.wi.us or , , tty: use Relay (711) Trips to locations outside of Eau Claire County Trips Monday through Sunday may be requested, but may be limited due to program funding. You must contact Abby Vans, Inc., , at least 48 hours in advance to schedule rides. Rider co payment is $3.00 per one way trip for rides on Sundays. Rider co payment is $3.00 per one way trip plus 55 per mile for trips to locations outside of Eau Claire County. The mileage for 55 per mile for out of county begins at Eau Claire County line and ends at the out of county destination. Federal, state and local funding pay part of this cost for you. Full cost is actually $17.90 to $20.90 per one way trip and $1.45 per mile for trips outside of Eau Claire County. 5 New Freedom Volunteer Driver Program Volunteer drivers use their own vehicle and are reimbursed for mileage by the Center for Independent Living for Western Wisconsin, Inc., to provide rides to persons who do not qualify for other transportation programs or need transportation to a location outside of Eau Claire County. New Freedom Volunteer Driver Program: Suggested Donation: Round trips less than 50 miles $5.00 Round trips between 50 and 100 miles $8.00 Round trips between 101 and 150 miles (must be approved by Center of Independent Living) $10.00 New Freedom Voucher Program For elderly or disabled, who have transportation barriers who drive themselves or have their own drivers available. Vouchers help pay for costs of transportation on a temporary. Participants must be elderly or have a disability. Chippewa Valley Airport Service 205 S. This includes any transportation to get to and from medical appointments as well as ambulance services in the case of an emergency. How to schedule a Medical Assistance ride? Call Medical Transportation Management, Inc. (MTM, Inc.) , tty: You need to schedule a ride at least two days prior to appointment. If you do not call two days before an appointment, you may have to reschedule your appointment. If you have an urgent appointment and cannot wait two days to go to an appointment, a ride may be scheduled within three hours. If you have regularly scheduled appointments three or more times a week, your doctor can work with MTM, Inc., to schedule your regularly reoccurring rides.
