2 We had a great time at Ngunguru with the ladies from the Ngunguru Quilting group over Labour Weekend. Soooo many beautiful quilts!! Every time I thought I had found my favourite I discovered another one I liked too. It was wonderful seeing many of you enjoying the quilts on display. And yes I am continuing the Night Before Christmas embroidery that I began over the weekend. As I am completing each block I am hanging them on the back wall so keep an eye on the progress. Shop Hop 2016 We are looking forward to Shop Hop 2016 in May next year. The official dates are 20 th 28 th May 2016, however as we are open every week Monday to Friday plus Saturday mornings we will be offering special Shop Hop opportunities from 16 th May. I ve been busy making the first few blocks. Here are the fabrics for our 2016 Shop Hop Quilt. The Embroidery Guild The third Tuesday of each month ladies from the local Embroidery Guild join us for the day at the store. The Embroidery Guild ladies always have wonderful samples of their work to show so come and see them on the Tuesday 17 th November. The inspiration from these ladies is amazing! This month the ladies are focussing on Basic Embroidery Stitches for Patchworkers. If you would like to add some embroidery to your quilts but you re not sure how, come and see the ladies and take a few stitches under their guidance. No need to bring anything as the ladies will have fabric, threads and frames available. Needles Embroidery Needles are specially designed for use with those embroideries we all love to stitch out on our machines. The Bernina Embroidery Gold needles keep sharp through many stitches and are fine enough that they don t punch holes! Are all brands of needles created equal? Absolutely not! There are cheap brands and good brands, that s why we recommend our Bernina brand needles for your machine 2016 Bernina Northland Fashion Awards Get your creative juices into gear with planning a garment for the Fashion or Wearable Art sections at the 2016 Bernina Northland Fashion Awards. 3 Christmas Presents We are thinking Christmas presents. These gorgeous kits include everything you need to complete the cushion or bag. If you know someone who would like to learn crochet or knitting what about these kits? There are several patterns included in each kit so just add some yarn for an awesome gift. Fabrics We have designed this Little Mermaids Quilt Kit ready for sewing by you for a lovely wee lass. It is based around a panel so the making is quick and suitable for all levels to sew. The latest Fairy Panel arrived just this morning. Simply add some fairy frost fabrics as borders to make a beautiful quilt. The Hungry Caterpillar is back on a new panel. 4 Classes and Workshops Friday Stitch Our Friday Stitch group is held 1 4pm Friday afternoons. Cost is just $5 to cover afternoon tea. Bring along whatever hand stitching you are currently working on; hand embroidery, cross stitch, knitting, crochet, applique or simply stitching down a binding. Come and join the group for fun and laughter while we all stitch together. Bernina Club Bernina Club is held on the second Thursday of each month, February - November. This month s meeting is on Thursday 12 th November, 5:30 8:30pm Come along and learn more about using and caring for your Bernina machine. This month, bring your machine and I am supplying the kit for our project at just $8 Overlocker Club Overlocker Club is held on the third Thursday of each month, February - November. This month s meeting is on Thursday 19 th November; 5:30 8:30pm. If you have a Bernina or Bernette overlocker this is a wonderful class to learn more about your machine. This month choose 1m of fabric from our range at a special 10% discount and come and help me solve the puzzle. Bernette Club Bernette Club is held on the last Monday of each month, February November. This month s meeting is on Monday 30 th November; 5:30 8:30pm. Come along and learn more about using and caring for your Bernette machine. This month, bring your machine and I am supplying the kit for our project at just $8 UFO Club (Un-finished Objects) The last Saturday of each month, this month Saturday 28 th November; 1pm 4pm Work with likeminded folks finishing projects that are waiting whether they are knitting, hand work, sewing or patchwork. You will receive accountability, advice and inspiration. Bring your own machine. 10% discount for items purchased while at the group. No charge, bring and share afternoon tea.
