4 CUSTOMER SUCCESS STORIES BOUYGUES UK With a reputation founded on delivering innovative and sustainable constructions, on time and within budget, Bouygues UK had to find a better way of ensuring that all its BREEAM and CSH certifications are delivered efficiently. Aleksandra Njagulj, Head of Sustainability at Bouygues UK, explains, A particular problem was keeping track of which team member was responsible for each of the thousands of pieces of evidence required and pulling the documents together. At worst, some people would move onto their next project without completing their responsibilities. At best, they were sending the documentation via or saving it to a remote corner of the server, never to be found again. Going forward, we needed a much more transparent and efficient process to take the pain out of BREEAM certification. After ruling out building its own tool, Bouygues researched what was available on the market and chose IES TaP. The requirement to use this system is now a part of the scope of works for all its BREEAM and CSH assessors, in order to ensure they meet their contractual obligations on time. To reduce the cost of achieving a high sustainability rating for clients, and the need for costly amendments later on, IES TaP is now deployed at the start of each and every Bouygues project. By using IES TaP to brief the team on what s required to achieve the desired BREEAM rating, Bouygues can quickly allocate responsibility for each piece of evidence to the appropriate team members, ensuring everyone knows what is required of them. High sustainability rating within budget Entire design team access Real-time updates UNIVERSITY OF CUMBRIA STUDENT VILLAGE GWP Project Services used IES TaP when they were tasked with helping to transform an old industrial site into an eco-friendly student village for the University of Cumbria. IES TaP was used to achieve a 40% reduction in CO 2 emissions under the BREEAM 2011 criteria. The main energy consumption within the village was that required to heat cold water to a tepid temperature when it first entered the boilers. By using IES TaP to coordinate feedback from a wide range of boiler and energy specialists, to electrical and mechanical engineers, GWP were able to quickly identify that Alpha boilers, which use waste heat from the flu to raise the temperature of incoming cold water, reduced emissions to the extent required within the existing budget and design. IES TaP proved essential to keeping everyone focused on achieving their credits by enabling users to set deadlines and automatically chasing users and allowed GWP to achieve a score of 86.12% and the first Outstanding Rating for BREEAM Achieved the first Outstanding rating for BREEAM 2011 Achieved a score of 86.12% Helped to deliver a 40% reduction in CO 2 emissions
