3 South America Game Instructions Begin by printing out the game cards onto sturdy paper and cutting them out. You can choose between the color set and the black and white set with flags that can be colored. A lot of the description cards refer to nearby oceans, mountains, or other countries, so it may be helpful to use the map to label the countries and/or capitals. Concentration/Memory (Groups of 2-4, use the country cards and capitals cards) Shuffle the cards and lay face down on the table. Players take turns turning two cards over to look for matches. Any player who finds a match gets another turn; when all cards are gone, whoever has the most matches wins. Slap It (Groups of 2-4, use the country cards and capitals cards) Lay the country or capital cards face up. Keep the other set cards for yourself and use them to call out the terms. For example, if you have the capitals set, call out Quito and the students will look for Ecuador. The first student to touch the corresponding card keeps it. Whoever has the most cards at the end wins. Go Fish (Groups of 3-4,, use the country cards and capitals cards) Shuffle the cards and deal 5-6 cards per player. Players set any pairs down as their first matches. Set the rest in the middle face down as the Go Fish pile. The students take turns asking one another for specific cards. If one has Caracas, she asks another student Tienes Venezuela? The student gives the card to her or says, No. no tengo. Pesca! She must then draw a card from the pile in the middle. When a student gets a match, he or she gets to go again. Whoever has the most matches at the end of the game wins. Guess What Country I Am? (Groups of 3-4,, use the country cards and description cards) Lay out the country cards, face up. Read the description cards out loud and let students guess which country you are describing. Whoever gets it right can keep that country card; whoever gets the most wins. Students could also quiz each other in pairs or groups.
